Brookfield Place project surpasses the Bow for title of Western Canada's tallest building
Brookfield Place has officially surpassed the Bow in height, earning the title of Western Canada’s tallest building.

Calgary’s new skyscraper — under construction downtown between 1st and 2nd streets and 6th and 7th avenues S.W. — is now complete to level 56, the top of the building. It has reached its final height of 247 metres — 10 metres taller than the Bow, previously the tallest structure on the Calgary skyline.

Brookfield Asset Management spokesman Andrew Willis said construction of the tower will continue until late 2017. Right now, its structural steel exterior is complete to level 54.

Cenovus agreed in 2013 to lease 71 per cent of the 1.4 million square feet of office space in the building, though the company said in February that it no longer needs all the space and is actively trying to sublet some of it.
