Probably could be considered a dumb question by some but are there yards where idle cranes are kept or are they shipped elsewhere for re-use? The crane count in Calgary is down considerably so one would think that there's either a lot of them stored somewhere or they've been moved elsewhere.

Not sure if it counts but there's a crane up at 4 Street and 20 Avenue NW for the new fire hall they're building

Tower crane? Or one of those mobile units without a cab up top?

The 4th Street NW fire hall is on 26th Avenue and there is no cab on the crane.

They get moved around but there are some places that store them. Depends on who owns them, and what they are used/designed for. Some construction companies own their own, others lease them from other companys.

One place for instance here in the SE at Graham's yard is a pile that are stored between uses.
