Strolled by a few minutes ago. Seems like most of the equipment remains parked in similar location to what the cam showed from yesterday. There were two cement trucks on site, doing something by the church. Maybe finishing off the caissons they were drilling last week.
I'm thinking if they're putting up one tower crane, it would go in the centre of plaza area. So between the two towers so it could presumably build both of them. If they're going to put up two tower cranes, I would assume they'll both go right at the edge of their respective towers. I guess it goes back to the uncertainty with the residential component.
Based on the large area of the site, I'm guessing they'll have at least one each of a crawler crane and tower crane on site.
From what I recall, only Tower 1 is actually being built right away. I think what is happening is that the foundation for Tower 2 is being built as well as the parking that will extend under both towers. This will allow TN to complete the square and release the public monies attached to the square. Then Tower 2 can be built at a later date without too much disruption around it.
Yeah parkade stretches the entire site. Tower 2 is a bit of a mystery, but they had said it would be ready in 2019. Tower 2 is also taller. Based on that it would seem they would both need to be U/C at the same time. But there have been no condo presales announced or anything. We're all left hanging.
Also looks like the red crane is in the process of having an extension added to it's boom. Woo hoo. I noticed they had dropped off another section yesterday. I would assume that means it'll be around the site for a while. Going back to the tower crane comments,
Lots of caisson drilling going on. Now 4 drill rigs on site. One of those box drill rigs for testing is gone too. Red crane is tall now, well taller anyways.

And they were taking one out of it today and swinging it to where all the other stuff is when I looked out my window around lunch. Later in the after noon the section is gone, I don't know if was trucked out or put back in the red one later.
Didn't realize the shafts on those rigs could telescope. They're very tall, so I assumed they could only drill as deep as they are tall. Apparently they can go much deeper.
So we were all kind of wondering about the church lot. Comparing the renders and that above image, it looks like the grass/park will go above the church's existing parking lot, and that zig zag will be the ramp/sidewalk up it to connect to the skywalk level.
Looking at the construction cam this AM, and it brought a thought to mind. I wonder if tower 2 podium will be constructed, and depending on what happens with the residential, leave the tower as future. A main part of the marketing for TNS is skywalk connectivity. So they could build tower 1 and podium for tower 2. Skywalk linking all together with Sutton place and RBCCC. Then the dreaded future tower could be built whenever.
They've announced a completion date for tower II in 2019 multiple times, would be strange if they didn't proceed with that schedule at this point.
Either way, can any one here talk to Scott Brown? Never met him personally..

How could they have people using the walkway between a tower crane and the building of a tower? That's not really safe.

I believe you're misunderstanding what he was saying. He's saying maybe they're just building the podium of tower two to facilitate the skywalk system. And in a decade or two or three build the tower on top of the podium.
