Traffic remained closed on a stretch of Elgin Street on Wednesday night as Ministry of Transportation engineers worked on a barrier wall on the westbound Highway 417 off-ramp at Metcalfe Street.
Police closed Elgin between Catherine and Isabella streets around noon as the MTO began investigating the possibility of a segment of the concrete wall of the overpass shifting.
The bridge is safe with an inspection finding no problem with the deck or supports, an MTO spokeswoman said.
The site is secured and temporary repairs, which are expected to take several days, are underway, she said. Both lanes of the Metcalfe off ramp will be closed until the work is complete.
The cause of the situation is under investigation.
Another driving video from me. Driving on Alberta Highway 22 (The Cowboy Trail) from the roundabout at Highway 8 through Redwood Meadows, Bragg Creek, Priddis, Turner Valley, Black Diamond and finally to Longview.

That was a great vid of the 407 which I have never been on. I had no idea it was near as busy as it is.
I don't quite understand how the tolling works. Why would the province have to pay for the widening of the road if the proceeds from the tolls goes to a private company? How long are the tolls to remain on the road?
The province didn't pay for the widening to the best of my knowledge. They are paying to extend it, but the revenue from that part of the highway will go to the province.
