It's part of L Tower's amenity space; residents checkout the keys from security and can take it for a spin.

The L Tower crane has been designated as a heritage structure. It ain't coming down anytime soon...

Those first three are almost objectively, undeniably the world's top three skylines, in whatever order. I mean, there really isn't much of an argument against them.

Shanghai's skyline is impressive because it's big and weird and bleak. But beautiful? Iconic? Not in the top ten, in my opinion.

How on earth is Shanghai's skyline any less iconic than almost any of the skylines on this list (but especially the bottom few)?

You'd seriously put Toronto, Seattle, and Gold Coast ahead of it? How?

Not to keep repeating myself, but the original metrics were beauty and/or iconic status. Toronto and Seattle are far nicer-looking than Shanghai, and I would guess that more people would recognize Toronto and Seattle before they would recognize Shanghai.

Okay, Western bias here, I admit it. In raw numbers, probably 1.3 billion Chinese are going to know what Shanghai looks like (I think). But worldwide?

The Gold Coast isn't iconic, but in my opinion it's about a hundred times prettier than Shanghai's skyline.

I'd say Shanghai's skyline is impressive, without a doubt.

Extreme Western bias. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower alone makes Shanghai at least as iconic as Toronto. With the Jin Mao Tower, SWFC, and Shanghai Tower, it is a very distinct and iconic skyline. It's a modern-day version of New York in the 1920s.

Between the two cities, the only one that I could actually live in is Toronto. That being said to argue that its skyline is more iconic, beautiful, etc than Shanghai's is something that I just don't see.

Also, on a more personal note, I just don't get the allure of Dubai's skyline or Dubai in general. I feel like if Donald Trump built the tacky city of his dreams, it would be Dubai.
