The irony being that duallies will almost exclusively be used for work rather than just for show. I agree they are ugly though.

The Fords are the worst duallies IMO for looks at the moment, because the rear fenders are designed to be replaceable. Chevy and Dodge have them integrated in the bed.

Uh... yes? They are a lot more rare in the first place, but I don't think I've ever seen a dually that doesn't look like it's being used for work, either because it has company logos or toolboxes etc on the back.

That may be the case but I put it to you that nobody needs duallies to collect EI. No matter how rugged the terrain or heavy the haul.

A dually isn't really optimal at all for rugged terrain in the first place... for towing heavy loads, now, sure, it makes sense.

It took a while before dually trucks were even available with 4x4... for decades, they were 2WD only -- meanwhile you could of course get a 3500/350 SRW 4x4 if you wanted a heavy duty truck for rugged terrain.

Yeah, they really have a specific purpose which is why no one uses them for fun. Don't they need a commercial registration too?

I know that's not true because growing up my cousin from Drumheller who was all about the trucks would tell me about how his teenage friend so and so just got a dually truck (they were extra cool). They are rarer than the ubiquitous jacked up jack off trucks you see all the time but they're still around.

This one even has tribal tattoos!

Yeah OK but those are extreme examples, there are very few duallies parked outside people's houses that are just used for 'impressing' teenage girls outside of bars in Red Deer, but there are plenty of half tonnes that are used solely for that purpose.
