Oh I definitely agree. 782 Peachtree is a very high quality project. I just wish the sidewalk hadn't been closed as long as it has been so far.

Plans Move Forward for Buckhead Park Over Ga. 400.

The Buckhead Community Improvement District announced this week a partnership with award-winning, New York City-based design firm Rogers Partners for a project now called "Park Over GA400."The business will oversee phase one of the project — a design and vision plan not to exceed $250,000 — which includes work on a schematic plan, funding strategy, engineering, and efforts to determine the park's management structure, officials said.
The RFP made one thing clear: Project leaders are aiming for a signature attraction that can hold its own with the great urban parks of America. The preliminary vision drew inspiration from places like Chicago's Millennium Park, Union Square in New York City, and Klyde Warren Park, which capped a highway in Downtown Dallas but is only about half the size of Buckhead's nearly 10-acre proposal.

The developer was accused of fraud for funding the Emory project by skimming money from a similar one in Texas. Both are filing for bankruptcy. I'd be surprised if it was ever completed.

This is a good thing in my opinion. I say tear it down and build something that actually belongs on that giant plot of land in the middle of the city. At the very least it leaves open the Peachtree-fronting portion of the property.

You couldn't blast them out of there, even with their huge property tax increases.

That being said, this neighborhood is an absolute treasure and predates what most of us know as 'Midtown.' It is a legacy of the Olmstead's, and many large cities would kill for this sort of neighborhood in their midst. This proposal at the proposed height on the NE corner of Peachtree & 17th is totally inappropriate in scale, and location. I also have serious doubts about the financial backing for this development to begin with.

There are many, many other more appropriate lots available for something this tall. The office and hotel portion look fantastic, and the same number of condo's could be accommodated - but with a totally different and much less tall design. I know this is sacrilegious to even utter these thoughts with many here, but I could care less.

I may be wrong, but I believe it was you that also advocated for the clear-cutting of trees in the still SFH residential hoods in Midtown on another site today. If true, there's a LOT you don't know about Atlanta's DNA. If I'm wrong, apologies are in order.
Why would you think it was me on some other site? Some blind random hunch? You would be incorrect. Anyway, I stand by what I originally said about this new proposal and Ansley neighborhood. They can definitely coexist.

The project looks nice...much better in the video...I just wish there was street facing retail...I just think that's so important for vibrant neighborhoods instead of sequestering the retail in the building itself...

There's going to be a lot of construction going on in that little area with Coda Tech Square and The Standard being built at the same time....can't wait.

Sorry, but the equipment here today is the same that has been here for weeks now, if you are referring to AMLI Arts.

Coda Tech Square

It's totally still Portman-esque, yet I think the "Outdoor living room" element is a huge step forward from the Downtown Portman buildings.

oh thank goodness. maybe we can actually do something with that lot facing peachtree! that was a terrible location for such a specialized medical service.

It looks like something you would find near a highway exit for a night of sleep after traveling all day long. Just terrible. Glad they're renovating it...just wish they could make the building engage the street better.

EDIT: In regards to my comment above about the Coda Tech Square project and no street facing retail, looking at the renderings, it does appear street facing retail exists so I want to take that comment back.
