There's also Tim's in the American building style:

the first photo is a 2/10 (ugly original tim's + the Rooms + crappy early-80s brown government building)
the second photo is a 5/10 (much nicer tim's but dystopian/banal suburban moonscape)

Such a poetic street name though!

There's a not-completely-ugly Timmies in Kitchener in a spot where the Downtown transitions into historic homes:

Unfortunately, it sits across the street from the old Provincial Courthouse (now sitting empty) that is rather a test of one's tolerance for late Brutalist architecture (and public art!):

Found a part of Eastern Montreal imitating Detroit. It's got the railroad tracks running right through the neighborhood unprotected.

This Tim Hortons in Gatineau (historic centre of Aylmer) isn't too bad either:

Not too far from Harls' place I'd say!

Indeed. Another growth, err piece, by the same artist, colloquially known as the Great Arctic Tundra Worm, graced the campus of the University of Waterloo many years ago, until it was BLOWN UP! I am not kidding.

Not the prettiest area but it doesn't even come close to passing the Detroit test.

If you look around 100% of the buildings appear to be occupied.

Some of the ugliness that is suburban St. John's. Not our separate, suburban municipalities, but suburban parts of the city proper. In increasing distance from the core:

This whole neighbourhood screams "🞵🞵🞵 are you lookin' at!?" to me, as do the faces of most people living in it.

Agreed Whippersnapper. It also bears a striking resemblance to sausage links. As for the building itself it reminds me of industrial grain elevators or the local wonderbread factory I've seen in Calgary's SE industrial parks. In short it bears no resemblance whatsoever to a house of justice. Depressing and awful.

From this angle the Rooms almost gives the Residences Soleil Laval a run for its' money in the creepily lurking in the background category. That side window is its' eye of Sauron so to speak. Used to subjugate all who live in its' shadow.

It has an eye for every angle...

You can, however, still safely live your life behind it...

If it looked more like sausage links, it would probably be an improvement (and locally relevant!).

It will be interesting to see if they will ever come up with a suitable use for the old courthouse, or if it will be demolished. It occupies a corner of the Civic District, which means a pretty good location that calls for some kind of public building, imo, or perhaps a conversion of the upper floors to government offices with the main floor adapted for public uses of some sort.
