I was up in the Perimeter area earlier today saw they were raising one of the State Farm tower cranes. Not sure how tall this one is going to get but must be close to 20 already.

Museum Place looks great, but it's throwing my Chi off that it's in that location. It feels out of balance. I feel like something more substantial should be there.

I'm not sure why people say that when it has the exact height and setback of its neighbors. It really couldn't be a better fit for that block. The wood framing bothers me, though... I'd expect sturdier construction at $2-3 million a unit. Mansions are selling for a million less a block away, so it's not the location driving that price up. I wonder about the prices at Seventh too, it shares a block with Viewpoint and even shares the amenities, and is right at street level with a much worse view, yet the Seventh units are twice as much per square foot. They're larger and have nicer finishes, but that can only go so far. I don't think they will hold their value.

With the luxury units going up near the fox being similarly sized and priced I too doubt the viability of a 5th-floor penthouse with a view of the high.

I don't have a subscription either but based on what is provided, my assumption is that this is planned for the block bound by Porche Ave, Elm St, College St, and Perkins St here:

It's actually the empty land directly adjacent to Porsche, next to where the Solis Hotel is being built.

Main Street Partner Group LLC... could announce a deal with a joint developer in coming weeks.
Quote:
At slightly more than 30 acres, the site in Hapeville along Porsche Avenue, Airport Loop Road and interstates 75 and 85 signals how more developers are turning to infill sites south of Interstate 20, after years of focusing mostly along and north of the Atlanta Perimeter.
Quote:
This month, Capella Hotel Group began construction on a 214-room hotel next to the Porsche Experience Center. The hotel, which features the luxury hotel brand Solís, will have restaurants, bars, and 6,500 square feet of event space, including a 3,600-square-foot ballroom.

The proposed town center is adjacent to the new hotel. It’s also surrounded by other new developments, including the planned mixed-use project that would include a four-star hotel at Hartsfield-Jackson.
Quote:
The project would take shape in two phases. First would be a 17-acre development that would include at least 50,000 square feet of retail, such as a boutique grocer and restaurants.

Another component is at least one new office building, where the developer and its broker say they can sell potential tenants on features including strong visibility along interstates 75 and 85.
Quote:
Main Street doesn’t have construction financing yet. It has entered advanced discussions with a master developer. Talks are also entering the final stages with apartment developers, said Bill O’Brien, with Main Street.

Up to 600 apartments and townhomes are planned on the site, he said. In all, the 30-acre town center could take shape over the next several years.
Quote:
The first phase of the project, Golden said, could be finished in 18 to 24 months.

The site I call out is basiclly right next to the Porsche / Solis site. If it is elsewhere, can you be more specific? The quotes you provide don't seem to indicate where it is in any significant detail.

But thanks for those quotes. That supports some chatter about the Hapeville town center I have been hearing about. Think there is some event Tuesday that is suppose to have more detail.

Are these simply designs or does the LCI have any coordination with GSU?

If the final design has a gridded street plan as shown in the example above, this will go a long way in making for a cohesive plan. Even if the plan is implemented over the course of a few years. This will give this area an enhanced sense of "place". While some lamented the departure of the Atlanta Braves for their new digs 12 miles up the interstate, I think this will actually bridge some of the southern communities with the downtown area.

While I empathize with the sentiment of the redevelopment of the parking lots by Turner Field, I must say that I would prefer the investment money to stay in the core of downtown Atlanta. The downtown core has plenty of paved over blocks which seem like they would have a higher potential. It also has much better access to public transportation. I believe that a revitalized downtown core would also, in the long term, increase the viability of the Summerhill area.

I think it is better for downtown to have GSU campus spread over to Summerhill as well. I think Turner Field site sitting under utilized would be much worse for downtown than GSU spreading itself into Sumerhill.

Something's cooking down there...

They have had some setbacks requiring the road to the parking garage (lower center) to be torn up again late last week. They found what, to me, looked like an old concrete foundation. It was rather thin. The also spent an afternoon unearthing a few very large granite looking blocks. In the end, they tied a two section T to the underground pipes. Now it is filled and level. They poured that concrete wall on Friday. There is also a concrete walkway/trench perpendicular to that wall to it's right. Am I correct in guessing that is the rear of the building's footprint?

Location/project is AMLI Arts Center, for anyone curious.
