WMC-TV did an interview with a representative of the developer who says construction on Phase 1 (likely the 30+ story apartment tower) should begin in June of this year with a completion date in December 2018.

Whats the actual reasons for scrapping the hotel? Not long ago the office building was being considered as a third addition.

They held off on it because there are so many other hotel projects in downtown right now. They thought it better to focus on getting as many tenants as possible to make a larger office tower.

I agree with their thoughts. We need more companies to move downtown. ServiceMaster is looking for a new headquarters and this would be perfect. I like the design as well.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis could be getting another Hyatt hotel downtown and this one will be grander than all the others.

The $190-million hotel will be part of the ‘One Beale’ project overlooking the Mississippi River. However, the agreement requires city taxpayers to loan the developer $10 million.

A 350-room luxury Grand Hyatt hotel could soon be a new addition to the Bluff City’s skyline.

Figured since the One Beale tower was back on the table we could start up a new thread...

From Wikipedia:

This is the original rendering:

And the most recent, revised rendering (two towers):

It is not known if these renderings will remain the same or be modified

I hate they didn't build this skyscraper it would have been exciting to see from Beale street. Need a new skyscraper downtown to bring Memphis skyline alive because right now its not that much going on but man this one was fye I'd loved how it was intertwined into one building

It's so awesome to see so many awesome proposals for Mephis. I hope they all get built. It would boost their image. Awesome!

I know right StevenW its been a long time coming because for decades there was no cranes downtown now there are a few. I agree Memphis needs an image boost to draw more tourist downtown and spending money to support the community
