^for english speakers, both LRT projects have been confirmed as well as the Blue line extension, the LRT announcements should come before the end of May, as per the prime minister himself.

Very exciting times for Montreal with public transit investments of around $8 billion.

I'm always really excited by new transit investments and support them. But having recently lived in Montreal, I wonder if the LRT is going to be highly used? I hope there's plenty of other destinations along that line, because people who are looking for an option cheaper than a taxi already have the $10 747 bus, which is quite convenient, while even if I'm staying in Mile End, with a couple of suitcases it's far more convenient to just call an Uber rather than lug those bags first onto an LRT, then a Subway, then walk around 10 blocks.

Thoughts? Montreal also isn't that busy of an airport I would say - on par with Calgary. Of course, if most users of the line are not going to or from the airport then it's a moot point.

the LRT to Trudeau airport is long overdue. There, there can be no argument. And as for the 747, there's very little convenience in that sorry-ass shuttle. It was always understood to be a plan-B.

Considering that the last rapid transit (metro) station built on the island was in the late 80's, these LRTs and the metro couldn't be more welcome.

You get what you plan. If Winnipeg wants a LRT or subway, then plan for it. The government cannot fund what is not planned.

wow, these are huge announcements. The blue line extension is decades in the making. I recall the old maps in the eighties, with blacked-out dots representing future stations on the blue line...plus some vague white line heading north then veering east.
