I heard H&M and Forever21 Red for Target space, and according to Winners staff, they will be moving to Sobeys.

Lots of rumours. It'll be interesting to see how things look a year from now. BTW, I heard from an electrician working on the site that it was sub-divided in into 6 units. I don't really know the guy so I can't put any more weight on that rumour than any other. (He also mentioned H&M though)

If the former Target is being split into 6 different units, then I see a central aisle running up the middle of them to the back wall of the mall.

The same thing happened at Eastgate Square in Hamilton, Ontario, when they redeveloped a large portion of the mall once occupied by Walmart, before that store chain built a HUGE 190,000+ sq. ft. Supercentre store up the street on Centennial Parkway North in that city.

Eastgate is kind of like Hamilton's version of McAllister Place, though that city also has 2 malls with about 200 stores a piece in them(Jackson Square in that city's Downtown, which has a Landmark Cinemas location, and Lime Ridge Mall, which contains a location of Hudson's Bay, a former Eaton's).

It will be interesting to see how this all plans out. I am looking forward to the space being reconfigured and vacancies filled. Reguarding stores moving/relocationg even that is good news as it means retailers are investing in making improvements. All these things are welcome contributors to a healthy retail scene in Saint John.

By the way...about that Walmart Supercentre I mentioned...

That WM has both a McDonald's AND a Tim Hortons in it, along with 14 aisles of grocery, a full freezer section, meat, produce, and full department store offerings.

As you can see there, it has double entrances too.

Hamilton also has a higher population than the entire province of New Brunswick. Supply and demand.

Awww - I had still held out hope that H&M would occupy the corner of King & Charlotte like that great rendering from a few years ago! What a relief it would be to see a retailer embrace that prime piece of real estate. Are there any murmurings on that front?

Um, not Hamilton city proper...but it, combined with surrounding towns and cities in it's CMA, would push the pop. base over the N.B. provincial pop. base.

I too would like nothing more than to see that corner developed - I am hopeful that WHEN the Irving HQ is built on the square that there will be enough incentive for many parts of Uptown to be developed including this corner!

*Edit* BAH! Too slow.

Apparently they are now in every province but Saskatchewan and Newfoundland. Or will be once the Charlottetown store opens.

I can sort've see why they may not be in Newfoundland yet; but Saskatchewan is surprising. Surely if New Brunswick can have 3 stores, Regina would be able to support one.
