They are talking about up to four discrete building sites for sale, totaling up to about 16 acres in area.

There is little question that Elmwood Home Hardware plans to move to this site. I think it is the remainder of the development that may be slow off the mark. We'll just have to wait and see.

I heard the whole thing might be delayed while the owner waits for more tenants to split the cost of water pipes / underground infrastructure.

I wonder if Irving would consider moving their failed Big Stop plans to across the street.

Just spoke to a friend that works at Costco too and they had a big visit today from the top Costco canada executives. This person heard that an agreement has been signed for the land.

Well, if this is true, then they really, Really, REALLY, REALLY need to get off their asses and definitively widen the overpass at the Dieppe/Harrisville Blvd interchange off of Veterans Highway........

This will be huge for the whole Harrisville corridor. Corey Craig owns a lot of land for development on the opposite side of the street. I could see this also being developed in the near future then. Also, my son saw the other day that surveyors were out on that bit of land next to the Fairfield Inn by Marroitt at the SW corner of Marriott and Harrisville. There could be something afoot there too......

Wishful thinking but I'm hoping this is a second store. If this is in fact true, it's terrible news for Riverview residents.

I think this will be a replacement of their current store. The employe told me that they outgrew they're current spot 10 years ago. It's also not in the format of new Costco buildings.

Great news for through traffic on the Route 2 though.

This is both good, and bad news at the same. It's good news for people because it would be a larger format store, and possibly have a fuel station as well. But it's bad news for those who shop there, and don't have cars.

As for thew surveyors not sure if they where surveying the Corey Craig Group owned property, or the land behind it because there are supposed to be semi's, or duplexes being built back there.

My friend at Costco just told me that it's official and the announcement will be made in the next week. There will also be a gas bar.

Wow, Im surprised but not, looking at all the opportunities around the airport with car dealerships, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if even they didn't help support bringing costco to the area. Costco brings people from all over the area from other cities could be a big boost for them.

Interesting to speculate:

Every other Costco in the region is part of a power centre. It would be a bit of a step outside the box for Costco to build a standalone store (with only Kent as a neighbour). I wonder if this will be part of a much larger planned development........

If Costco sets up on Harrisville, I'm sure there will be many other stores, services and restaurants to follow. Harrisville Blvd will be unrecognizable in 5-10 years time.

Stay tuned.......

I talked to a friend of mine who works at Canadian Tire, and she told me the owner of the location she works at was looking to open a larger store possibly in the Harisville area.

There was also a rumor rolling around the the Corey Craig Group Strip Mall's main Grocery tenant was to be Coop before they sold off to Sobeys, and that Future Shop now Best Buy was also supposed to be building a store in the Harisville area there was also rumors of a fast food strip with several tenants, and several Big name Tenants that where looking to build in that area (All yet to be named). If any of this is true the Harisville area would build up extremely quick. There are also several residential planed areas within the area, and rumors of another hotel for the area as well. But some of the rumors are several years old, and have yet to be confirmed by land owners, and/or Companies.

Looks like they're going to have to re-expand the Veteran's Hwy off ramp coming from #2 Trans Canada Hwy which connects to Harrisville blvd!

It's not just the overpass and the onramp that will need to be fixed - If these developments are indeed happening, the entirety of Harrisville up to Shediac Rd will at least need to be made 4 lanes (and possibly even up to the TCH at some point, though probably not right now). Harrisville will effectively need the Mapleton Rd treatment.
