I find a lot of the burger joints to be very similar. The good burger joints I mean. Mrs. Mikes, Dari Whip, Burger Factory, VJ's, etc. They all dish out good, home made burgers.

I agree wholeheartedly, add in Dari Milk on St. Anne's and Red Top on St.Marys.

It has hotels, businesses, and lots of restaurants that face a very active street with streetcars going past every 30 seconds, people in suits walking walking walking, cars, hotel staff dressed to the 9s.

We could do something like that here, but we have to do something about the problem people.

Broadway has some "international" flair, sort of European Parisian that comes the closest, especially around the Hotel Fort Garry and near the Legislature/Memorial Blvd. corner.

Aside from that the best areas to mould into a Toronto King St.-like street would be the west Exchange Dist. streets., but not too far off from Main St.

There's also 100,000 people living within a 20 minute walk of the Entertainment District.

Stella's website says they are reopening on Sherbrook on April 20.

So what's the deal with that Brown's Social House at Centrepoint? A restaurant on a corner like that would have been amazing before and after a Jets game. Despite the last home game being on Sunday, this restaurant would still bring street level activity to the downtown area

Still activity in there every day. It's just very slow. They just finished roughing in all the plumbing and electrical.

Because there's nowhere good to eat brunch in the south end of the city. Their competition is Salisbury and Aaltos, so they'll have a lock on the non-gross food market.

It's also in a streetfront CRU, which fits their MO of being vaguely urban.

And you aren't wrong about gentrification. Fort Garry is having a moment. Lots of dumpy houses coming down for bigger, nicer places.

Loved the Round Table's prime rib and retro atmosphere, but I guess their time came and went. It kind of looks like it's still the 70s in there.

I think they (based on Freep's article today) simply want to expand, or atleast concentrate their efforts solely on the Brogue Pubside, or atleast rebrand under a model similar to that.

I've never eaten at the round table, but enjoyed Brogue a couple of times. I'd definitely visit again if the re-opening follows that tone.
