^^^

Also if you visit the old Winnipeg Construction threads (7, 6, 5, etc) most of the images on the initial post are gone.

Most of the images people link here are from outside websites. When those sites either remove the articles or images, the links get broken. Nothing you can do about that unless you have many hours to try and fix them!

^ I nominate one of the people who has previously done such a great job digging up all those photos and stats for previous Wpg Construction threads...

Graham

I have been taking a few time-lapse videos lately and love to see so many people. I really look forward to seeing the 3 buildings along Graham go up,, its already a busy place. I might have posted this to the transit page also,, but is it missing? I counted 12 busses within 3 minutes and hundreds of people,, LRT could flood as many or more people with 2 or 3 drivers.

You should get a timelapse there at the PM rush hour. Just the other side of the street. 4:30 seems to be busiest. There's a lot of people and a lot of buses down there.

At peak periods the sidewalks are getting crowded on Portage and Graham... it doesn't help that they're cluttered with so much street furniture that effectively narrows the walking paths to a few feet wide at certain points. I'd like to see the City work on that.

I'd like to see the no bikes on sidewalks law enforced downtown (well everywhere really). Lost count of how many times I've nearly been mowed down by some lunatic on a bike racing down the sidewalk. This is a real hazard and shouldn't be discounted as a factor in making downtown more walkable and liveable.

Yes, Osborne Village is worse for bike <> pedestrian interaction.

More bike lanes on non-potholed roads would mean more bikes on roads instead of sidewalks.

I would rather ride along the sidewalk in West End Portage than to risk my life riding on a Moon-like surface?

Actually, West End Portage was resurfaced in the past 2 years. But how long will that last? But you get my idea.

Anyone know if the SHED streetscaping is planned for the rest of Graham? I really hate how the transit mall pieces stop for 2 blocks to match the SHED, then start again. Looks awful. Same as the corner of Portage and Donald theres a SHED and the classic Portage ones right beside each other.

I for one really like the current lighting and that on Graham. But I'd like to see the city spruce it up a bit, especially with all the new development. And I think the city made a big mistake trying to force ppl to bike on York/St. Mary and Fort/Graham. Bikes should be able to travel properly on the main streets as well.

I was thinking similar, but didn't say it.

1ajs has been doing a great job these past few years. Is he not wanting to do it anymore?

If it's alrght with everyone here, can I be the next one to manage the "first page" of the next Winnipeg Construction thread?

No problem from my perspective. Creating the Opening Post will allow you to edit the photos, information you provide on a regular basis.

* Any other editing, thread title etc.may still be changed by a mod if necessary.
Good luck. Any coding problems etc, please feel free to PM a mod.

Thx and have fun.

Little things that make me laugh.....one of the first renderings I have seen that isn't full of Range Rovers, Ferrari's, BMW's and Porsche's. Also, if you watch the video, where the angle turns northward down main Street you can see that Ray Wan put in his failed hotel/condo building next to 201 Portage.....ahhhh, would have been nice.

Pretty sure I saw the pumphouse tower lurking in the background too.
