Yes you have. But then you also give unqualified praise for Montreal in photos too. I don't think I'be ever seen you simply give a complement to a Calgary photo without some backhanded criticism about its suburbs. Maybe I'm wrong about that but it's the impression I get. For the record I have also criticized Calgary extensively in the Ugly Canada thread as you know.

Sadly this is the current state of the Canada forum.

here is a very unflattering shot of London, Ontario. The built form of the foreground is wretched, particularly against the grey sky.

There are obviously much more flattering shots, but London has a long way to go to overcome the generally low density and concomitant dreary urban environment.

Sure I praise great Montreal shots...there are many such shots, taken by talented photographers. The subject is quite beautiful in the right light, at the right time. Make no mistake, Montreal has plenty of ugly, dreary landscapes. How many times have I shat on the dystopian lunar fabric that characterizes swathes of Laval? Longueuil? The West Island? The North Shore?

It ain't all woots, that is for sure.

Meanwhile, Montreal's skyline is finally starting to look legit for a city its size while Vancouver's punches way above its weight.

Really, the Big 3 skylines are all drastically different from one another.

Shame on me perhaps, but since Shangri-La went up Vancouver's skyline has been my favourite, with TO's still being the most impressive. The flaws that made the Montreal skyline not-so-great have finally been fixed.

Honestly, i am happy that Canada's three biggest are vastly different. Adds character and interest to all.

Unlike other comments on here these is a backhand to no one.

Agreed. I'm kinda worried how much Brookfield Place will blend in with the Bow when seen from the east making a giant blob of an outline.

What are those twin towers in the foreground? They actually look nice and I don't remember seeing them before. Great photo.

No seriously, like acajack said, it doesn't look like a standard calgary view. Looks like a decrepit port town, which montreal certainly can look like at times.

btw - what Rose building? The Farine five roses?

I think you're right. The never ending arguments in the Canada section have jaded me. It began with the Justin Trudeau thread but has slowly spread everywhere else. Yes I meant the Farine Five Roses building. Calgary obviously isn't a port town but the train tracks passing through here are the equivalent. That was the Malting company building I shot. There's also grain elevators and some other industrial shit out of frame.

While I agree that that Calgary silo looks like a lot of Montreal industrial installations, I don't think it looks like the Five Roses. The Five Roses is actually quite a nice red-brick art deco industrial high-rise:
