The sheer volume of actual construction in Midtown from 5th Street all the way to 17th Street is mind-boggling. Proposals are going to actual construction at a surprising pace.

The scale of this proposal is great for this part of West Midtown. The architecture will have to grow on me. It reminds me of some of the older apartment buildings on the west side of Alexandria. The added retail is definitely a plus. I can see this one moving forward quickly.

QuikTrip - Midtown

The company is slated to open later this year a 3,500- square-foot QuikTrip convenience store in one of the retail spaces at the Viewpoint Atlanta condominiums on Peachtree and 6th streets

Re: 1050 Howell Mill

Wow! What an interesting design. I both like it and am a little confused by what I'm seeing.

Hmmm - I agree. Looks very dated, and not in a good way. I'll have to let these sink in..

It looks kind of basic...I don't know. The only interesting part of the cascading facade on that one side. The retail looks well done though. The private balconies are also really nice. Regardless that area continues to get denser and denser. I wonder if the lot on Howell Mill next to "The Brady" development will get built on sooner rather than later.

I don't get it...it's an apartment midrise. As long as prices are affordable and the apartments INSIDE are nice, why would not people not lease the apartments? I mean, these are one of the only new apartments in Atlanta where the balconies are actually private and your neighbors can't see you next door.

The post modern look doesn't appeal to the Atlanta audience.

I kind of like it. It's at least better than yet another faux brick/stucco box in the endless procession of faux brick/stucco boxes. I like that it's taller than the usual, too.

People really don't care what the outside of the building looks like as long as the apartments inside are nice and of high quality...it's in a pretty decent neighborhood. If I had the desire to live in the West Midtown area and these apartments were nice and I could afford them, I'd lease an apartment...I don't really care what the outside look like. This ain't a single family home or even a condo building.

I predict this Club Fed will have a problem leasing up unless they drop the price.

Y'all are ridiculous. These will be fully leased within 90 days of opening.

Exactly, I think the difference alone will do that. Looks awesome, very powerful looking.

You're kidding right?

I actually love this but I think the final product will really depend on the quality of the materials in the facade. We've been getting a lot midrise junk that instantly fills up with renters. This is such a welcome departure from the norm and in a great location (the views alone will sell this).

I think it looks awesome. Understated, modern, and much better than a lot of the schlock thrown up around Lindbergh or o4w over the last few years.
