Yeah, I posted a picture a page or two back. There's now a small steamroller there as well, but still no activity

Exciting stuff! Going to be hilarious to see a Ralph Johnson village constructed next to this disgusting thing at the same time: http://www.sloopin.com/2016/03/837-s...ave-above.html

Also a bunch of Jersey barriers with tall blue panels on top. You can see them all lined up toward the top of the picture referenced.

The homeless campers have not yet been made further homeless, they're still there in the trees.

If only there was some way to force them to bury those lines. That's a pretty disgusting attempt to save a few bucks. Hope it costs them in the end, when no one moves in

It's dumb. Michigan Avenue is clearly putting up the overhead wires on the assumption that CMK will pay to move them underground later... the challenges of having two adjacent developments.

Any chance we'll see something as magnificent as 7 S Dearborn again? That was a very nice tower!

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/reale...buck-apartment

All of the 2nd floor and some of the first at 200 N. Michigan has been leased by a travel agency. I'm not sure who still uses travel agencies, but it seems like a good use for that 2nd floor space.

Quote:
With the new lease, Buck has found tenants for all but about 3,500 square feet of Mila's retail space, said Danielle Rudas Goodman, a senior associate at Stone Real Estate, the Chicago broker firm handling retail leasing for John Buck. She declined to identify other tenants, but Starbucks plans to open a coffee shop there this summer.
That has to be good news for further development on that stretch of Michigan, although there's still no sign of tenants for most of the new space at 151 N. Michigan.

On the same topic, they recently took down the remaining scaffolding around this building. Looks great, imo, and will look even better with lights on at night.

^ I don't know, a travel agency doesn't exactly get me thinking "wow, this retail stretch has really come alive!"

Yeah, I can certainly think of better uses, but it seems like it's hard to rent 2nd floor retail in the Loop, and a travel agency is much better than it sitting vacant for years.

I didn't have much hope for second floor retail on this stretch of Michigan Avenue. Tenants come and go - at least the space exists to do something more interesting in the future, and at least it's not another luggage shop.

Now that's a funny thought. There are a bunch of luggage stores up and down that stretch of Michigan and now a travel agency wants to open an office right near there.

Say what you want about a travel agency. Some people prefer the presence of a human to a website. In the age of Amazon, electronics and other retail stores still exist.

I'm hoping the first floor retail will become the first clothing retailer on that stretch of Michigan south of the river.

Also, just south of here the American Writers Museum is supposed to be opening at 180 N. Michigan. A nice addition to the Cultural Mile. Not sure if that will have any street presence since it's the Crains Building.

The Logan twins are having a huge impact. Those and the 'L' building are doing quite a bit of making Logan Square feel much more dense.

Now if only someone can reconfigure that mess where Milwaukee and Kedzie fall into a k hole with that giant eagle. I'm from Los Angeles. I can handle the freeway system no problem. But that is a creation of Satan. Hate it.
