Wow, that view is amazing. .It'll cost an arm and a leg however. I think that condo tower is going to sell really well. The quality of the development is something similar to what you see in the coastal elite cities like NYC and SF.

It's a shame the HOA at 805 Peachtree across the street has neglected their lighting... that building used to have neon but a lot of it burned out and now it's just dark. Same for the office building behind those new apartments, actually. I guess it's something builders put in and owners eventually forget.
I live in the building and this issue came up at our annual meeting back in January. Apparently, several of the light "strips" started to fail, which resulted in large burned out gaps on both corners of the building. The HOA board is working on determining the best long-term solution (as replacing all of the light strips will involve a lift truck and closing the sidewalk for a day or two). In the meantime, the lights have been turned off. I have been assured that the lights will be turned back on as soon as possible.

It really is gorgeous.

We have some friends who live in highrise right next to this and there are some spectacular views to the north as well.

If you are talking about Plaza Towers on Peachtree, I totally agree with you.

In the curbed article Jarel from JPX commented that the Midtown project would start construction in May and the Emerson project in August assuming everything continues as planned.

Kaplan plans 331-unit apartment building along Centennial Olympic Park (SLIDESHOW)

Looks another apartment building along Centennial Olympic Park...

We have met with the city and made it clear that we want a game-changer for downtown,” Kaplan Residential Chairman and CEO Morris Kaplan tells Atlanta Business Chronicle.

That's huge news, but holy cow the base of that is horrendous. No way in hell that makes it through the DRC. Three sides are just blank walls!

I wouldn't call a 12 story apartment building a "game changer" but it does seem like Downtown is finally picking up some momentum when it comes to residential projects. It will take up 3 acres, so that's a pretty large chunk!

Doubt it: http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/17626300/377-Centennial-Olympic-Park-Atlanta-GA/

According to the property sales information it is only really fronting one street, with a sliver of fronting on Ivan Allen/Ralph McGill. It looks like that all street fronting parts have storefront glass. But at least the site has a deed restriction requiring a minimum of 15k sqft of retail.

Although it is too bad this proposal didn't happen: http://joelandgranot.com/warehouse/fm/do...l%20Olympic%20Park%20Sales%20Package.pdf

I keep waiting for the day that something gets proposed for the parking lot across from E&Y HQ / the W. *crosses fingers*

I am incredibly excited that right after construction has started a new construction apartment downtown we get a proposal for another. That's amazing!

I've been wondering if Novare plans on announcing a new Skyhouse/Atlantic House sometime soon now they are wrapping up their latest development in Midtown. Maybe Downtown will get the next one.

From the image, there's a storefront on the ground floor and at the top of the building? Would be nice if Ivan Allen and Centennial both engaged the pedestrians instead of just one side.

Quote:
...Metro Atlanta’s real estate market has jumped to the No. 6 spot among investors in the Americas. While the jump by itself is significant, it’s worth noting that investors intend to increase their acquisitions across the continents in 2016 compared to 2015, according to the just-released “CBRE Americas Investor Intentions Survey 2016.”...

...Metro Atlanta moved up to the No. 6 spot after previously placing No. 15. Atlanta is also considered a favorite non-gateway market for investors, according to a statement from CBRE...

...Los Angeles grabbed first place in investor preference. New York placed second, followed by Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Francisco, and Toronto. Put Atlanta in sixth place, and the rest of the Top 10 includes seventh-ranked Seattle, Washington, Denver, with Boston ranked 10th...

...“Multifamily, office and industrial will continue to be the products of preference; however we anticipate more capital will pivot in the year ahead towards retail than compared to 2015,” he said. “Core and top-tier value-add will be best positioned to maintain high pricing and low yields, while second-tier assets and markets will feel some downward pricing pressure.”...

Terrible - that's the LAST thing Downtown needs. Kind of par for the course in the area, though.
