Has anyone ever thought about the effects of so much new blood in the commercial property market from out of towners since Brandywine and Liberty started to unload? I think it is one of the best things that could have happened. In my opinion it helps attracting companies that might not have looked at the Delaware Valley otherwise. These NY/California companies have skin in the game now, and they see the potential we all see to have our region grow.

Let's start by not calling the region the "Delaware Valley".

It's very genesis exists because people in the area did not want acknowledge Philadelphia was at its core.

So, we can say, Philadelphia Region.

It needs to happen, but I dont long timers will change their tune anytime soon. I think I read that Channel 6 is one of the main drivers of this "Delaware Valley" terminology and they have been using it for decades.

I have never seen anyone complain about the Delaware Valley terminology. Do people call the Leigh Valley, the Leigh Valley because they hate Allentown? What about the Hudson Valley?

3rd and Brown should petition Wikipedia to change our metro page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware_Valley

I mean DVRPC has been around for decades.

It's fitting because they themselves aren't located in Philadelphia. After channel 10 (NBC) moves it's studios to CITC, they will be the sole station not in Center City.

I would be satisfy if all the large tenants from the suburban office complex do a switcheroo and move to the Schuylkill Yard in the next 5 years. You get the best of both worlds by working in a vibrant area and get to take public transit to and from your suburban home. Or better yet move into the city.

Aramark considering relocating HQ outside of Phila.

“The lease on Aramark’s world headquarters expires in 2018 and we have been carefully reviewing our options to ensure a solid plan is ready in advance,” said Chris Collom, a spokesman for the company, in a statement. “As a public company, we have a responsibility to our shareholders to completely assess all available choices. That includes remaining in Philadelphia or possibly relocating. We have been working closely with city and state officials in a number of locations and will make our final decision soon.”

The company, which provides food, facilities and uniform services to education, healthcare, business, sports and corrections clients, has reportedly done a national search as part of its evaluation process. Of the options it is considering locally include staying in Center City, moving to the Navy Yard or to Camden, N.J., according to people familiar with the situation. While the current building could accommodate that amount of space, there is no other office tower in Philadelphia with that much space available. Eventually, though, 2400 Market St. could have enough room.

A new building would have to be constructed at the Navy Yard or Camden. What, if any options, Aramark is considering outside of the Philadelphia area couldn’t be determined and the spokesman declined to take additional questions.

This would suck and would be devastating for the city. Hopefully they stay. Would suck to lose such a large tenant and a Fortune 500 company in the city especially after all the bullshit recently. Just recently, Sonoco has left for Delaware County, DOW left the city for Delaware County, BNY Mellon is seriously shrinking its presence in the city or leaving the city entirely, and Pep Boys has been recently acquired and could be relocating.

1. Stay in Aramark tower
2. Anchor a new tower in Center City
3. Anchor Cira II or another Schuylkill Yards tower
4. Go to 2400 Market or old GSK tower
5. Navy Yard
6. Anchor a new tower in Camden
7. Campbell's Campus
8. PA burbs
9. NJ burbs
10. DE burbs
11. Leave the region entirely.

Praying the stay in the city and hopefully in Center City. Praying times two they don't leave the region.

How much of these news leaks like Aramark are negotiating tactics for favorable lease terms? If you occupy 350,000 in one building, how much can you push below the prevailing price per sq ft?
