Nice win for Broomfield then! Still helps build out the metro strengths as a financial services center with big presence from Schwab, Western Union, First Bank, US Bank, Janus, VISA, MasterCard, TIAA Creff and many others. For all the talk of marijuana fueling the boom, technology, financial services, and biomed are the real guts of our economy with TONS of high paying jobs that would be the envy of almost any city not named San Francisco, San Jose, LA, or New York. These are the jobs that are putting REAL big time money into our local economy. And now this - "hundreds" of positions with average pay of $220,000? That's huge.

I do hate corporate campuses though (I work on one)! Reminds me of the 19th century "company town." I much prefer the diversity of experience you get an a real urban area.

I absolutely love that car SUV. It's boxy, just like Denver's skyline, and perfect.

A friend builds infill homes in Wash Park and other central Denver neighborhoods. Most are $1M+ new builds where they scrape the existing house on a lot that is $500-750k. I asked him what most of these people do and many of them work in financial services/wealth management, most of which office I either downtown or Cherry Creek. The rest are small business owners, doctors, lawyers or high up at oil & gas companies (that segment likely has shrunk though). He said many also have some kind of family money.

The recent construction which I found interesting is the new Alexan Uptown apartments. They are constructing the upper floors completely out of light gauge metal framing, something that you won't see done very often. Basically all of that framing comes on site prefabbed.

Some new projects:

A 13 story, 219 room hotel is being proposed at 1501 Stout. I think this is a Sage project.

A 14 story, 176 unit apartment building at 13th and Delaware.

Block 173 is another hotel.

Colfax and Downing is now a 7 story building with 190 units and ground floor retail.

15th Street is going to be unrecognizable in a couple of years.

The Convention Center addition, the DIA airport train, and the complete DPCA redevelopment should continue to drive up convention and visitor numbers.

These are the golden years for Denver, perhaps unmatched in its history. It's amazing now to think of the period of slow growth (relatively speaking) from 1990 to 2010. Those were the years of infrastructure investment that now are paying dividends so many times over.

It's even more amazing to me to think of the period of destruction and evisceration. This is an exciting time for sure. Just wish there was more historic fabric left.

For my money Ryan's 1401 Lawrence Street Update is especially awesome.

You know that Denver (and Colorado) has reached an amazing milestone when pot dispensaries outnumber Starbucks. It's also been a godsend for iconic small towns according to Bloomberg.

Speaking of Bloomberg a story that only wong could appreciate.

In addition to my recent sports-obsession I've done a deep dive into the campaign trail. For me it's the entertainment and sociological dynamics and demographics that are fascinating.
