I think we should suggest to the dreamscape developers that they should pitch their ideas to other provinces like Alberta, BC or Ontario. You know, where people would be more receptive to ideas like that because hey, this is Winnipeg and Manitoba and things like this can NEVER happen or work here, right??? Let's set them straight on what our province is truly about

In all seriousness, can we at least let these people speak first before our usual negativity mob crucifies them and their ideas?

Well said.
I can not tell you how many times I heard before MTS Centre opened how nobody would go there all the way downtown pay parking etc...Well, not so?
Also, heard how True North will never happen, well, it is happening.
Also, West Edmonton Mall was built when Edmonton had about what our population is now plus we are growing nicely.

As you mentioned, It is sad how most people here with tunnel vision think we do not deserve better than we have and the status quo is all we can know. So narrow minded, provincial in thinking.
I know Dreamscapes plan seems massive and not the size of a development we are used to seeing pitched but I a all for it if it can come to fruition.
What a tourist attraction and also it will be a city within a city.

It's quite sad how so many people in this city see a proposal like this and start up with the "yeah right, never in Winnipeg so get the fuck out of town" backwater, self-depreciating comments and jokes. I mean, these developers haven't even had a chance to speak in public and we are already mocking them. It's quite pathetic (and predictable) and says a lot about us as a city, which isn't flattering in the slightest. Give them a chance to speak for fuck sakes before you whip out the pitchforks and torches.

If it doesn't come to life, so be it. I just can't get over why people in this city are so fucking negative about everything that gets proposed here, even before full disclosure of the developments occur. It's absolutely infuriating, and even more so, embarrassing, making us look so bush-league.

How could their waterslide be profitable when Skinner's closed a few years ago due to cooler (geoengineered) Summers?

Will ALL of it be under a protective roof? I don't think so. Just parts of the full development.

Is Katz or Swindleman involved?

Bishop is being extended to Plessis, and that land right behind southland park is being developed into multi-family and retail. New Costco is going there.

People stop making up shit, get out of your Mother's basement.

I generally agree with your views regarding Winnipeg pessimism and I'm glad to see that's starting to change a bit. But come on, what legitimate real estate development encourages contributions at an individual level via kickstarter? This thing is pure fantasy, through and through.

Just to realize the size, one square mile equals 640 acers. So 500 acers is going to take up a massive amount of space. Basically the size of all 4 Deacon reservoirs.

Give me a break. Their website says the plan includes two enclosed drive-in movie theatres. Because one isn't enough. And they spell it Drive Inn. That's really all you need to know.
