McDonalds for Stonebridge

Construction is well underway on a new McDonalds restaurant in what is known as Cory Common - just south of the Sobeys extra in Stonebridge Center.

Also heard that Swiss Chalet will be part of this development

Atch is infuriating. The guy's questioning--again--why a future growth plan is so focused on mass transit. If he still doesn't get that densification of the city is contingent in large part on a better transit system, then I think he needs to be put out to pasture this time around. Notwithstanding the fact that his vision of the future is... drumroll... still just cars (BUT WAIT! They're AUTONOMOUS!). Oy.

Sorry, no Swiss Chalet, but likely a Boston Pizza, another fast food restaurant, a gas station & a couple strips of CRUs.

Saskatoon had 91 singles and 42 multiples for a total of 133 starts in February
YTD starts are 273 - down 32% from last year

Regina had 102 total starts for February - YTD starts of 159 up 6% from last year

Wow....I am not sure if I have ever agreed with Pat Lorje, but I would support the idea that IF a bridge had to be built at 33rd, it should be for bikes, pedestrians, active transportation. The city already pumped in several million dollars to build that bike corridor to Kelsey from the train bridge (supposedly to link the U of S campus and Kelsey campus). So why wouldn't you build a ped bridge to link that trail with one connecting to U of S?

I always thought a High Speed Quad Chair Lift would be great to get students and staff from the Weir to the Campus. Not too expensive and can operate 365 days a year. Good for tourists also.

The City actually looked at a chair lift over the river. For safety reasons it'll be near impossible. Couple that with requiring multiple transfers for it to work as a transit service means it's difficult to justify financially.

The BRT news is huge as is the infill and corridor growth. I'm anxious to get some political debate over financing. There's no reason BRT construction can't start in 2017 if they have funding in place

I like the other proposed bridge anyways. If the 33rd bridge does allow cars, spadina would not be able to handle the amount of traffic that would start using it. The 24th street bridge accomodates dedicated bus lanes which I believe is the next step for transit in this city.

Then I would make 25th one way, 24th one way, 23rd would be the shared bike lane road, 22nd would stay 2-way, 21st should become pedestrian walking street (if we could build a parkade some where since we can't afford to lose parking), and 20th stays 2-way. Not that I have spent a lot of time thinking about this though.

I think they should build a dedicated transit/bike/pedestrian bridge at Queen Street and then run rapid transit route through the north side of campus between UofS and Innovation Place coming out at Preston. That route makes it more convenient for innovation place workers and city hospital workers and no worse for UofS students and staff. You would only need a 2 lane bridge with additional room for cyclist and pedestrians and would not have to spend huge sums of money reconfiguring College Drive.

I think I understand where Atch is coming from about autonomous cars, if and only if it means those autonomous cars are actually shared and used by many... but that is just a slightly more luxurious version of public transit. And since ownership is a right that so many people here choose to exercise regarding private vehicles, Walker's point stands - the value if autonomous cars is sacrificed if they end up being parked in a driveway, street or parking lot for 20 hours a day.
