If the market will be able to absorb 4 55 storey high buildings (2000 units..say 3000 people or more) in a reasonable time frame then in a parallel universe Lowell Green will vote for Bernie and praise the former Councillor for this ward.

They see this area as Ottawa's Yonge and Eglinton? I like the sound of that.

I take it that you've never actually been to Yonge and Eglinton.

It's way too close to downtown to be Yonge and Eglinton for Ottawa. Maybe you could say it for somewhere like Old Ottawa South, or maybe Wellington and Carling, but this area is at most a balance for Yonge and Bloor. It's barely outside downtown.

167.8 metres. Excluding potential mechanical penthouses... it may actually be higher based on where on the site you are measuring from

Trinity is planning to have the first two towers done by 2021. Looks like these will be rental apartments, at least the first two anyway.

2 towers in 5 years, that's pretty good considering the size of the project.

The city needs to get rid of that 40+million debt. They should sell the air rights instead of cutting services and jobs.

We are way overloaded with condo/apartment proposals. And it's not just friendly competition (as with the few thousand units in Little Italy); the full 8,400 units proposed for the area are being developed by the same people (Windmill has Zibi, Trinity has 900 Albert and both are working together on Rendez-Vous).

Seems to me that for that many residential units, were lacking in Office space. And considering the limited amount of room we have left for growth in the CBD, it seems these developers should consider a whole lot more office space than currently planned.

On another note, Trinity's proposing a Central Library at LeBreton and a branch over the Trillium Line, near an existing branch. How many Libraries do we need again?

There really is no reason not to do it, as long as Trinity keeps enough room under the building for a double tracked, electrified system.

Not really, because the city already makes debt payments as part of its operating budget due to the way municipalities budget.

With that # of proposed resdential units, I'd love to see some three bedroom family-size units at non-astronomical prices.
It would be great if a middle-class couple in Ottawa could to afford have a family of 4, without compromising dwelling quality, in a neighbourhood with a 98+ walk score someday.

A 3 bedroom family size unit for how much you figure? 400~500k?
