A game on Parliament Hill might get federal funding under Canada 150, no?

I suppose it's possible, but compared to the 1967 Centennial celebrations when every speck on the map got a new community facility of one sort or another, it sure would seem dumb to mark our Sesquicentennial by paying millions upon millions of dollars so that the NHL could make a ton of money staging a professional sports event.

It is. They don't seem to know how to spell basic words though. They spelled 'commitment' wrong.

Jan 2, 2017 = Hawks & Blues
Feb 18, 2017 = Pens & Flyers [Heinz Field]

These are in commemoration of 50 years of original NHL expansion in 1967.

More on true north 2020 for the off season

True seamless glass throughout MTS to improve sightliness (no steel where available). And new seats and bleachers for the retractable sections and also new cushions/covers for all fixed seating. Which I can only imagine also means a color change to blue (I cant see them redoing them in green). Also some minor concourse renos

Quote:
The most significant improvement will be the replacement of all cushions and seat covers for all fixed seating in the upper and lower bowls, enhancing both comfort and design. Additionally, new bleachers and decking will be installed in the south-end lower bowl, and better-quality decking will be constructed for the east and west retractable seating areas. This will include the replacement of approximately 1,500 seats with a sturdier, more comfortable seat.

After an extensive study of design alternatives, building code, and product offerings, a thorough glass project will be implemented throughout the MTS Centre. Where code and safety allows, steel mesh and sight-obstruction steel posts will be replaced with seamless glass throughout the venue.

Additionally, this summer will begin a 2-year program that will see 350 new TV screens, ranging from 42” to 80”. These screens will be presented on MTS Centre concourses and public walkways which will offer digital menu boards in our concessions, improved game and social media feeds, as well as event information for upcoming shows at the MTS Centre and Burton Cummings Theatre. Complementing new digital menu boards, a new food & beverage point-of-sale system will be implemented this summer to provide improved speed of service at MTS Centre concessions, and offer new convenient payment options to fans.

The rendering for the Centennial Classic seems to have an extra stand on the south end, I don't remember this being announced for BMO? Is it just temporary seating?

Giving terrible dates all to appease NBCSN that nobody watches versus setting up a big TV ratings day here in Canada.

$5.2 billion and you can't even get a Saturday night playoff game. What a joke. Even the NFL has more respect for their rights holders for whom it is very hawkish with typically.

Plus with all due respect to my hometown. Regina is small place. 60+ USA metros are larger than Regina. Why would the NHL not go to any of those places first. Tulsa, Oklahoma to damn Billings are all larger than Regina. Why not go there?

Because you can't get 35,000 fans out for a hockey game in Tulsa or Billings.

I know I posted about this earlier but the WFP published a story a little further in depth

An additional 8 million being sunk into MTS this off season, work begins next week

-Armrests will be raised to match the raised seats in the 300's
-New seamless glass to solve the loge issue
-All Seat cushions will be replaced and seat colours WILL be changed most likely to blue
-All retractable decking will be replaced an upgraded
-Around 350 TV's installed through the building
