Thanks for those sparkling pics, Hunter. Do you, or anyone, know what those grey boxes are on top of the Metropolis towers? They're kind of ugly.

Also, I was hoping the second phase of Onyx (near the Blue/Expo line station) was going to start soon. That parking lot is massive and not a great look for train riders entering South Park.

Those are the buildings core. They will be hidden by glass at some point

Love those pics and fantastic to see Oceanwide taking off. Its like they hit fast forward. 8th and Spring is now digging down and should be picking up steam shortly. 8th and Olive is looking great btw. I love the dark glass.

There will soon be glass covering those ugly cores.

Also I ran across these renderings of Metropolis on HED. I've never seen them before.

There is a time lapse video of the last core pour. They are eye level with the AON buildings sign.

I wouldn't call COS high end per se, but it's a perfect brand for Broadway. Also directly across the street from the future Broadway Trade Center on 8th, already showing the effect that project is gonna have on the surrounding area. 🞵🞵🞵🞵 yeah!

My only real issue with the Historic Core is how many chain stores are going in. I'd like to see some independent LA based designers open up shop down there, just so the area doesn't become another SoHo (which would be BAD).

I think that's amazing news. Especially after just hearing about the 'Exodus' of retailers from Broadway. Two major announcements from great retailers this month.

LA is a top 5 international shopping destination. If all of the vacant retail in Dtwn is eventually realized, Dtwn will be a major component of that.

There's just so much retail space here (Dtwn), that there is room for everyone. Locals Rich Honey, Miguel Torres and Skin Graft are just up the block. But yes, hopefully there will be more. What is surprising to see is that more local chains haven't started jumping in. After all the headquarters for Lucky Brand, Guess and many others are nearby.

I think it's great that Dtwn is luring retail that LA doesn't already have. Bunkr, Tanner Goods, Mykita, Acne are examples of retailers new to LA. Things are finally getting exciting here of the retail front. Critical mass is beginning to form.

It's a great addition for sure. I'm not exactly surprised we haven't seen a ton of other chain retailers though yet. We haven't reached critical mass in terms of population or tourism probably, and all these other retailers like JCrew have shops relatively close by in major centers (Fairfax, Beverly Center, Glendale, Pasadena). I hope we do get more independent stuff, but we'll see if the rents are too high to allow that.
