Site Photos Capture Construction Progress at Hudson Yards

Quote:
Moving west, just outside of the Hudson Yards redevelopment site itself, 55 Hudson Yards has made its way to ground level and is set to become an innovative 238-metre, 51-storey office tower. Featuring an industrial-inspired design consisting of a window wall boasting floor-to-ceiling windows delineated by black iron frames, the tower will offer 120,800 square metres of column-free work space on each floor.

Are they tearing down that dark building or is it being integrated into the new building?

I believe that building is a recently constructed ventilation facility for the rail yards or the 7 line.

That is Subway 7 ventilation building which will be integrated into the tower. You can see it in the render below as "dark cubes".

Recent Photos Show Hudson Yards Taking Shape

Quote:
Bordered by 10th Avenue, 11th Avenue, West 30th Street, and West 34th Street, the Eastern Yard is currently a web of cranes and steel. Recent photos depict the mesmerizing scene at the site of phase one, with nearly all of its buildings now under construction.

I saw a photo posting on SSC indicating that construction might've stalled. Can anyone here confirm this?

Hard to tell, yes the forms were removed from the site but steel has arrived.

^ Stalled or not, it's nice to see another HY tower comfortably above ground.

Those ventilation buildings are real streetscape killers. Either reduce their footprint or integrate them within a usable building or something. There's gotta be a better way. They are terrible. Same thing over at the Second Ave subway.

Is that what that long building is in the middle of the last picture?
I was trying to determine when it got built via Google Street View; it sprouted up very quickly between July 2012 and August 2013.

The ventilation building on the pictures will be fully integrated into the tower including new cladding. You will not even notice it's there.

The building is visible on all pictures, the north side on the first two, the west side on the last picture.
