Mellon’s Orchard South
Development Guidelines

what's up with the diagram showing the "two halves" of the business district?
the haves and the have nots? isn't the mission to unify the area and put an end to the divisions?
the half south of penn gets colored orange and the half north of penn gets no color - what's up with that?
and why is the city paying a design firm in new york city to plan a business district in pittsburgh?
don't we have urban planners here who are qualified for this type of work and who would appreciate the business?
"building a cohesive business district" ain't gonna happen if planners continue to show the area divided into two halves
"Proposed development shall reconnect the existing city street grid. Beatty Street shall connect from Broad Street to Station Street in the north-south direction,"
then in the next section
"It is strongly recommended that Beatty Street be treated as an important neighborhood spine providing pedestrian linkages from the residential neighborhoods to the north and the business district to the south."
how about treating beatty street as an important neighborhood street?
why bother to extend harvard street - it dead ends at euclid
why not restore beatty which runs all the way to east liberty boulevard?
