Just across the road, next to the Shoppers Drug Mart mall, they've cleared the forest out to prepare the land for development; that would've been a great spot for a bank branch. (Then again, TD may have already pegged that spot since they're the only ones without a full branch on the North Side)
I don't think they've cleared that area yet but the land directly adjacent to Main Place is also owned by Plaza. Their site plan includes a future building at the front of the lot. I'd speculate that a TD branch could go there: http://plaza.ca/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/Main_Place_-_Profile_and_Leasing_Plan_160.pdf

Also, the old Irving gas station on Woodstock Road has FINALLY been torn down as of this morning.

This partly explains why the Subaru dealership moved:

Quote:
Volvo Fredericton is under new ownership for the first time in 20 years.

David O'Leary and Aubrey Ward Jr. have purchased the dealership at 349 St. Mary's Street.

They're planning a full-scale renovation to the location in the next year, including a complete Service renovation and a brand new all-glass front on the building.

O'Leary and Ward Jr. also own Fredericton Mitsubishi.

Any idea what the setbacks will be like? Hoping this development conforms to the new Main Street plan.

No I don't know exactly. Do you know the building beside Price auto sales? They built that. They also built the building behind that one as well. So im thinking its going to be along those same lines. 3 or 4 story building with Apartments and business retail space for rent.

Pita Pit Northside

Sounds like they may have changed their mind again. I know a few pages/months ago, when we talked about the new Main Street location, someone said they had heard that Pita Pit was going to keep both north side locations open.

Just heard on the radio that they are now advertising it as a Move to Main Street, so it sounds like they are NOT planning to keep the Brookside location open after all.

From this month's PAC agenda:

Rezoning for 25 residential lots in West Hills, with duplexes and single family homes replacing the previously proposed townhouses: http://www.fredericton.ca/en/citygovernment/resources/B3.pdf

7 new commercial lots on a new street off of Prospect adjacent to Speedy Glass: http://www.fredericton.ca/en/citygovernment/resources/C1.pdf

Ultramar gas station at Bishop and Hanwell (previously was supposed to be an Irving): http://www.fredericton.ca/en/citygovernment/resources/D3.pdf

That site seems like an odd choice for an Irving, with there being another one 500m down Bishop... If they seriously considered that then I'm glad it's now going to be an Ultramar.

It would have been a different owner.

I see the new townhouses on Regent bellow Montgomery are going to be pretty large!

Edit: I also snuck a quick peak into where the new Lawton's is going to be in the Regent Mall and they have already blasted through a couple walls. Also, the Lawton's on the north side will remain correct? I hope so.

That is correct the Lawton drugs will remain in the Brookside mall. Which is a good thing.

Yeah drove past the new townhouses on Regent and they're going to have an impressive presence on the road. They're intended as Student housing I assume, since they're renting fully furnished, and given they're right in the university area?

Good to hear Lawtons is staying in both locations; it certainly feels like a long past due expansion of the chain in the city.

Anyone can bank at the BMO on Campus, but I don't think it is a full service branch - mainly for deposits, chequing, ATM service, and possibly student loan administration. Convenient parking is not so good Sept thru April.

I didn't mean that it was Student/Campus customers only, more that it might not be a full branch so might not count as a 3rd location in the city.

I have a source at the mall who tells me the Lawton's will have a second floor with doctor's offices and/or a walk-in clinic.

PS - Long-time reader, first post.
