I've seen another model where the cladding on the old building matched the fritted glass seen on the ribs. It looked fantastic.

And I've seen a model where the cladding was one large picture of an animal. Wolf or something? Can't recall exactly which animal.

That probably won't happen with Telus disposing of the building

Telus is keeping the mid-block building we're speaking of. They've sold off the corner building to the south.

******

The model showed the Telus House block reclad - yeah, you could be right - could be drab gray.
Will there be street level shops on the ground floor?

No, that would liven up one of the most dead sidewalks in the city.

There's supposed to be retail and the Vancouver Centre parkade will be redeveloped with a tower.

See, they got away with that.

Yeah, the City can get difficult when screwed over, like with the original One Wall Centre glass fiasco. But I somehow doubt that they will measure it after everything is completed. How would you even do that and where would your measuring point be from?

Also, on the view cone picture that officedweller posted on the previous page, what is this view cone protecting? The view of that featureless mountain ridge covered in forest? There is no feature in that part of the mountain to protect and such ridges exists all around North Shore Mountains...

The dentist's office seems to be up and running now on Richards Street.

The top edge of the roof is clean and clear now. Still a fair amount of balcony glass to install, not only in the top section but even some in the middle section. Last pic was in the evening twilight.

I didn't notice until today that the construction elevator had been taken down but you can see in the above pic (on the left side of the condo tower) that it was happening about three weeks ago. There's still a lot of glass work to be done on that corner over the alley at Robson.

Here's the current state of the sidewalks on Robson and Richards. In the last pic I tried to show a little of the underside of the zigzag facade on Richards.

Old sidewalk on Robson. You can still see the driveway from when there was the Telus parkade on that corner.

New sidewalk on Richards.

Thanks for the update. I especially appreciate the look at those details.

It will be interesting to see whether all those protruding edges on the residential podium and tower are going to be backlit like the edges of the protruding boxes on the commercial tower. It would be quite the sight if they are.

More and more of the cladding on the old building facade on Seymour Street is disappearing.

Is there a plan for the old building?

If not, please destroy and build taller/denser!

Thanks!

The most westerly door on Robson (not shown) is recessed and will likely be a hinged door.
The installed door shown in the pic farthest to the west is an automatic sliding door - so that's how they avoided doors swinging over the public sidewalk.
I assume the other 2 doors will also be sliding since they are not recessed.
Note the door opposite the public washroom is still in the same place.

I wonder if the sliding doors will be triggered by people walking past on the sidewalk?

Here's a look at those doors, starting at the alley.

Thanks.

I thought they had a set of doors installed.
Maybe that was a test for fit?

Wow.

The building is just brutal from that last angle.

Looks like a 5 year old sketched it, and got bored halfway through.
