They couldn't have at least rounded the corner balcony railings to maintain some illusion of curves beyond just the thermal-bridges-cough-i-mean-slab-edges?

Massing in buildings like these make me think the city has forgotten why they had mandated slender towers and human-scaled podiums in years past. This isn't 2 towers on a podium; it's one ribbon slab with notches carved out of it. If this is now acceptable, it really calls into question the usefulness of planning bylaws.

You mean like at Wave in Surrey?
Not are great as One Bloor East in Toronto, but better than One Pacific.

It says here that the podium retail will contain a restaurant, a cafe and a 25,000sqft. "state-of-the-art" gym...hmmmm. I presume the "athletic club" will be on the second floor of the glassy podium.

I just noticed on the project website that it describes the project as 3 separate blocks in 3 phases yet it was clearly built as a singular whole, was that just for phasing of sales? thoughts?

I'm saying that the rationale for the old point towers (human scale, light, views, vertical forest/landscape, etc) can and should apply to other massing forms as well. A lot of Bjarke Ingels' work would fit in Vancouver just fine. To exempt new projects from the same level of craft, for something as pedestrian as variety, undermines the cumulative effort to date to shape a distinct regional aesthetic.

Yep, the gym would be on the second floor, but no words on which big name will be moving in.

Yah, the phasing was just for sale purpose. It is technically one building fully connected inside.

I wonder if the railing will be painted green to match the bridge railing?
Hopefully it'll be welded together to form a continuous railing.

It would have been nice if the railing was shorter in length with steps to the adjacent path.
- but I guess that would have been dangerous for cyclists.
