Very nice job! We will have to lend some time for taller hi-rises like 3 Civic Plaza and future infill projects to the south that will accompany this lonely cluster of buildings.

They could start with that now-vacant building on the corner of KGB and 100th

It seems the retail building by the skytrain is so out of place now. Wish they went with the original planned height of that building.

Indeed. It's such a prime location. Should have built another landmark tower there.

What was the original planned height? Concord is totally allergic to commercial uses, so the downsizing wouldn't be a surprise.

Interesting, didn't realize that much of the ill-defined open space was originally planned for retail buildings.

Maybe once the King George development is built out the tiny retail buildings could be rebuilt as something more substantial.

Yeah, hopefully the existing retail buildings are just "placeholders" and they'll redevelop more intensely in future.

Let's hope!

I think with all the condos and office being built around the station it will make financial sense in a decade to redevelop the existing buildings. The only problem would be if they're strata instead of rental. Does anyone know?

Strata. And spot on about Concord Pacific not being good with commercial, I believe the majority of space is still un-sold/occupied outside of a few facing SkyTrain on the top level. Nothing of substance under Park Place towers 1 and 2 though which is likely why 0 retail in Park Avenue.

What you described as suburban wasteland fits the majority of Surrey, in general.
And by your definition every part of Metro Vancouver except downtown Vancouver actually. Look at aerial photos of Burnaby especially Metrotown and Brentwood and while towers are going up today, even today most parts of the surrounding look like your defined "urban wasteland". Goes for 95% of Richmond, Coquitlam, you name it.

It's sort of like saying my perception of a "wealthy person" is that they must be white males with a net worth of greater than $50 billion. Kind of pointless in any general conversation really since that covers about 3 people out of 7.1 billion.

They're working on the 37th floor on the east tower. So it should be topped out in a couple of weeks.

One thing I will say about surrey is, the city does not seem to be a fan of the ol seafoam spandrel. Which is a positive thing. Couquitlam doesn't seem to use much if any of that awful color either.

They are doing some extensive road work in the area for the utilities. By the looks of it they must have dug at least 10 feet deep in the intersection of Whalley Ring Road and 100th Avenue.

East Tower will probably be ready for move ins around September. West Tower probably January 2017. Best case scenario that is.

BTW.. does have more amenities usually push the condo prices a bit more higher ? for example Park Avenue has more amenities than Park place right.. ie. like Swimming pool , Sauna , etc. etc. so do you guys expect a 1 bedroom of similar floor height will be more expensive for Park Avenue then Park place ?
