Interesting - I have never been to Moco in Mactaquac but I've heard good things. The original Blue Door was my go-to spot downtown but the last ownership group let the standards (in both service and food IMHO) drop a bit and I only went a couple times last year. That location, with a proper operation, should thrive.

Too bad Kitchen Nightmares wasn't still on tv. I don't even think Gordon Ramsay could have fixed the Blue Door

Looks like the opening of the new Subaru dealership is imminent. They've started moving cars to the new location.

**UPDATED** Scotiabank closing branches in Chipman and Fredericton
Posted on 2/26/2016 2:52:00 PM by Brad Perry

**Story updated at 5:14 p.m. Friday**

Scotiabank is closing its lone branch in the village of Chipman and one of its locations in Fredericton.

Chipman mayor Ed Farris says he's been informed that the village's branch will consolidate with the Minto location in October.

Farris says the closure will leave the community's 1,200 residents without a place to do their banking.

He says officials with Scotiabank will hold a public meeting in the community on March 8.

Scotiabank spokesperson Heather Armstrong confirms that the consolidation will take place on Oct. 6.

Armstrong says the branch at Smythe and Dundonald streets in Fredericton is also consolidating with the Kings Place branch on Sept. 9.

"Scotiabank is working to better organize itself to best serve its customers, and to respond to the significant changes in the way customers are doing their banking," Armstrong says in an emailed statement.

"We did not make these decisions lightly. While in each case, this process will involve closing one branch, our steadfast commitment to providing our customers with the highest-quality advice and service remains unchanged."

Farris says the closure is another blow to his community, which recently lost one of its ambulances to government cutbacks, and the popular D's Diner to fire.

He says the village may consider approaching other financial institutions to see if they'd be interested in opening a branch in the community.

Yes I noticed that too. That's an interesting spot for development(?) considering it was underwater in 2008.

Figured it was just to improve aesthetics in that area. Garage however was left standing

Right. They tore down a house there as well to make that piece of land more marketable.

Looks like work has started on Lawtons in the Regent mall. They put up the construction walls and have started gutting the Payless and Hallmark slots.

Curiously, the constuction wall extends all the way around to the Walmart side of the hall. Which makes me think that they're planning to have glass walls on both sides. Probably no exterior entrance though.

Interesting that bank is usually pretty busy. I wonder what made them want to close that one over the Regent and Presimen Street location

I'd guess the Regent/Priestman one gets a lot of University Student business, along with Hospital business (if that's a factor), whereas the Smythe one was just 'out there' and not particularly close to anything a bank would draw on.
