Here's a better image of the Central High School behind the old Pennsylvania Railroad Station from Pitt Images:

Well you could open your wallet for them. Believe it or not, the old church has been going under a lot of renovations, which have been very costly. Over a million dollars for the organ renovation and they keep going. They will be adding some nice lighting that will not add to the horrible light pollution that is all over the city. At least the church will do its part unlike 99% of the city with regards to light pollution. I applaud the current minister, who is a super person and cares greatly for the community. He has great concern for what happens to the people that are being priced out for example. I don't agree with him on that, because I believe that area needs to be brought back to something nice as it was designed, not a slum, but I respect his views of course. That is a great church (the people) that really has super poor to somewhat wealthy as members. I like the green space and really don't think we need more concrete. We are just a little city, not a mega city with tons of people.

I think that was a nice little project, but as we discussed previously, it would be way cooler if that whole area was turned into a European-style cathedral square.

If nothing else, the loss of the Mosque ignited a fire under local preservation activists here and caused the founding of Preservation Pittsburgh.

It sure would be nice if that property actually got a decent use.

Anything will be a trade up from a parking lot. But since Pitt doesn't even have a plan for the site yet, I'm guessing we're looking at a minimum of two years (probably more) before something is constructed there.

Unfortunately I think you are right. In fact it seems to me they bought it just because it was available, which is not exactly a great outcome. Was it ever even listed?

Sadly, it didn't stop the demolition of the Civic Arena which could have been a world class market district, but I digress.

Hope Pitt and their "nonprofit" status can do something nice, but that spot will be off the tax books. Just what the city needs.

Well the railroad workers weren't all that fond of the depot as they burnt it to the ground a few years later:

do not believe for one second that pittsburgh's new soviet-style apartment buildings are being designed that way by accident

Not holding my breath, but we can hope for something. Certainly it won't be anything as nice as the old structure, but what can anyone do now?

Has anyone heard about Oxford's 350 Fifth development lately? They had the sidewalk closed today because of debris falling from the current building.

Why would you develop a new market district when that exact thing sits a mile away and has existed for a century?
