There will always be an abundance of parking downtown because of the parkades and on-street parking... even if every surface parking lot was developed there would still be thousands of spots left.

Exactly. God forbid people have to walk a block. No wonder so many people are overweight.

Anyone else not know about this? This is one of the best locations in the city; it is about time we see wholesale development.

There is some development taking place there if you venture north up Tache, but it's taking forever... you'd think this area would be a no-brainer for development, but it is somewhat complicated with many players involved including a very active Old St. B Residents Association.

I wonder if this is an actual home built in the area, or an example; it is stunning.

^ that looks like the type of homes being built.

Great location. A touch pricey from what I have heard.

Now, let's see a pedestrian bridge cross over the red to Point Douglas, and raze that area, and replace it with similar developments.

There's another lot in that area, at St Joseph & Aubert, that's been fenced off for a while now for something called 'Place Aubert'. Anybody know details on it?

Very pricy. The house recluse posted was (or maybe still is?) listed at $869,000.

Pointe Hebert has been going on for a couple years. Maybe 2/3 complete now. Rue Messager and Rue Hebert are basically done. Rue Darveau against the track is the last street to be done.

Place Aubert is likely another on of those condo developments typical of the north Tache area. That whole area will eventually end up as low to mid rise condos. Between St. Jospeh and Tache.

That house was one of the hospital lottery grand prizes.

The details of True North Square project revealed at today's media announcement are quite impressive. Hopefully it will help spur further developments and re-investment in other parts of downtown and at The Bay in particular. Now that they've consolidated everything onto the 2 remaining floors it would be nice to see them spruced up. New flooring would be a start. By leaving them the way they are gives the impression that they don't care about the place which will not help attract customers.

Yes. As much as I am tiresome of relying on government funding, using some federal Trudeau infrastructure money to put towards the redevelopment of the Bay building would be acceptable in my opinion, based on jobs created and the spin offs.

Exactly. And the floors would look nice as mentioned redone. Even if they did what St Vital Centre did with their renovating. The wood and new lights look amazing. That alone would make the shopping inside the Bay more "chic".

As for the empty floors. Wish the UofW would grab it. Would be nice to see it full of students. Knock that parkade down or at Least renovate it.

And big on my wish list is fixing those two ugly as sin skywalks to PP. some paint and lights would do wonders.

I was in Hudson's Bay a couple weeks ago and went up to the fourth floor. It was empty and being framed in with steel studs and drywall. Looked like hallways were being formed. Something or someone must be going in there. Otherwise why would they spend the money? In other news, it was pretty depressing that store. High ceilings are spectacular. Spend some cash to spruce it up, give it some sort of atmosphere and more people would go. Maybe. Who knows.

Totally. If HBC would agree to lease space, perhaps a couple of floors for Hudson's Bay, a couple for one of its other banners, then the remaining floors could be office or educational space, the investment would be returned.

serious? go for a drive or walk and you will see 30-40 homes built, mostly 2-3 story on 33 ft lots. tall skinny, no yards, all very large and all $500+. there was "1 lottery" home that eventually sold for $800'ish but most are just shy over $500k. great development tucked away from business except for around Festival time. 4 condo developments have happened along tache in last 1-3 years and there's plans for 3 more

I don't believe anything is going up there. There are a couple of offices on the 4th floor along with the men's and women's washrooms which is probably why they are closing off the remaining areas. They did the same thing to the 6th floor when the Paddlewheel restaurant was still open as there was only access to the restaurant and the men's and women's washrooms up there. Once the Paddlewheel closed up shop, the 6th floor was no longer accessible to the general public.

^ Isn't there a chiropractor or some such up on the 4th floor?
