It's certainly impressive but not blow-your-mind, I-never-thought-this-would-be-possible-here like the Stantec Tower in Edmonton.

OK, just found the image gallery... more commentary to follow. Website seems slow loading at the moment...
Scotia bank has the naming rights on the office tower.

We can hope that other Winnipeg business leaders and developers start planning for something similar in say about 5 years. Let this inspire others.

So are they pulling out of their office at Portage and Main? Would be kind of a downer if that space sat vacant. New Dollarama?

I'll update the thread, once I have a moment to get a handle on all the info they've released.

Photos, etc...

This is going to be an amazing development..

Holy moly this is impressive. I honestly expected it to be scaled back from the initial rendering but apart from the reduction in swoopy curves, I'd say this iteration is bigger and better than the initial. Winnipeg hasn't seen anything like this since Winnipeg Square was unveiled by Trizec... although I guess that project didn't come anywhere close to being fully built.

Total afterthought but I like the fact there will be a nice direct skywalk connection from RBCCC to P&M without navigating the rat's maze of Cityplace/the Delta.

I wonder if they are leaving P&M, which will tie into the redevelopment of 360 Main?

P&M is emptying out. TNSE wasn't kidding when they said TNS would be the new heart. They're stripping the exsiting heart bare.

I'm a little choked up. They're so idealistic - it's so refreshing to see a group with vision really trying to make something good happen.

It isn't.

But you should know that by now, based on how much I have been hammering it home on here.

Renders are just pretty pictures.

The architectural drawings will show just how much "glass" there is.

I am a little baffled that they are going the LEED route. Private developers, especially in Winnipeg, have better things to spend their money on. Especially now that the Energy Code is in effect.

Time to open up P&M, and redevelop the corners. Hmmm, "The Corners at Portage & Main"

Same method used by MB Hydro?

Yeah wow. If I'm Hartley Richardson at this presser I'd have to be a little nervous. Lombard Place is going to be left in the dust by this project. It's a little sad but it does seem as though the centre of Winnipeg's orbit is shifting a bit to the west. Hmm, I wonder what could be done to bring renewed vitality to Portage and Main?

From the website, it appears that the office tower is half-leased at this point.

I wonder how the uptake on condos will be? Between Skycity and Glasshouse, there have already been a lot of condos sold in downtown Winnipeg lately relative to the size of the market.

Doubtful, but who knows?

I will say I like the scale of the project. Fits in nicely.

I am also a little concerned with how much this is cannibalizing business away from P&M. Hopefully this lights a fire under the butts of the building owners at P&M to up their game.

So what exactly are the 4 buildings for? The easternmost one on Hargrave appears to be office space, the northernmost one on Carlton appears to be the Sutton Place. What is the building at Carlton and St. Mary? What is the one that runs along Graham?

Maybe that's a way of getting some additional government support. I wouldn't be surprised to see some Federal money start to appear, supporting 'green' projects.
