Our construction boom is about to kick into hyperdrive. We're even starting to see more and more proposals in the neighborhoods.

I really hope we don't slam into a recession. I realize there is an aura of misbelief out there ("is this a bubble?" "Is there really this much demand?") but I'd like to think that this will be more sustained, not unlike the suburban housing subdivision boom of the past 50 years.

Whelp, looks like the ugliest new building in Chicago (arguably) will be on full display for the remainder of our lives. Very disappointing.

Originally it didn't have any windows on the north side, so unfortunate as it may be it is an improvement over what it could have been ...

Near North is CRAAAAAZY right now, but yeah, I was around the further north lakefront and there was a lot more going on than I expected. It's some serious construction activity in the areas commonly included in the "Global Chicago" areas.

What year are you living in? I thought it was only 2016 now, not the 24th century ...

Wolf Point West thread is closed, but I wanted to share a shot highlighting the balcony glass. It's a little off yet altogether this tower finished beautifully.

Neon "store closing" signs are up at the old Clark And Barlow store (353 W Grand proposal).

I vaguely recall Reilly saying this project was dead at the community meeting for John Bucks Assumption Church proposal. Also, I thought this project wanted to bring a grocery store to west River North which is needed.

reduce REUSE recycle - no need to get rid of a perfectly fine basement wall just because you want to build a high-rise there. I'm guessing they are still doing a matt. From Hydrogen's shots a few days later a matt on the East side ?

Tower crane base and some caissons poked through the old floor.

Floor removed and wall trimmed off

this appears to be the rail/guide for the concrete saw

Not sure if this has been mentioned previously but it appears this project has broke ground. Drove past the other day. Lot of activity behind fencing. Info hard to come by. Saw a few renderings but little else. Anyone know the details?

That would make this the second South Loop skyscraper in the past few days we ignored construction start. We need to organize together any skyscrapers we may have overlooked in this boom.
