See the BC Lions, Toronto Argonauts & even St. Louis Rams if you'd like to know what happens to teams in an enclosed downtown dome with zero parking!!!
Zero parking at BC Place? While it's true that every new development project at Concord Pacific Place eats up another surface parking lot, to say that there's zero parking there is simply wrong. In addition to the large lot across and to the east of Pacific Blvd, there are still some smaller lots at the Casino and to the west. As well, there is parking in a lot of office buildings and public facilities (like the Library) which is available during game days/nights.

Don't forget the SkyTrain stations, on two separate lines, which serve the BC Place/Rogers Arena precinct, plus the fact that a lot of people will park on the south side of the Cambie Bridge and walk across (especially for Lions games, probably less so on rainy nights during the Canucks season).

I would hardly blame the Lions' attendance decline on parking. And the reason the Rams moved to LA is because of parking?? Please.

Plenty of parking around SkyDome too. Thousands of spots within a 10 minute walk of the place.

There were some questions earlier in this thread about where the LED stadium sports lights would be installed. Looks as though they are attached to the cat walk.

Some impressive pics of BMO in this thread. Gives a good indication of how big the roof project really is

Looking at BMO makes me think if Halifax wants to build a budget stadium this is how it should be done. 2 identical stands but not built out of concrete like IGF or mosiac, just precast aluminum like BMO. Basically a scaled down but better thought out BMO without a canopy crossed with THF. Something decent could get done for under 100M in nova Scotia It would basically look like 2 west sides of BMO facing each other. One side houses player facilities, luxury suites with BMO style concourses under the stands. The other side is a open concourse access (THF type but nothing under the stands). 25,000 BMO style seats to save cost. Loge seats installed behind the last row of the open concourse seats like IGF. Simple walkway around the endzones like BMO has in the north end to give it that closed in "stadium feel" as opposed to TD place. It wouldn't be the 1st or 2nd worst stadium in the League.

Maybe Halifax can buy up and reassemble those pieces of the Alouettes' modular "Autostade" that were sold off in the 70s to small towns for use as local grandstands.

Not really at all actually

I'm describing one side of THF built like BMO and another side of BMO built...like BMO. THF may have been 145M but you're using half the steal and half the concrete and seats at half the price of Hamiltons. The one side would be nothing more than stands washrooms and concourse. The other side would have all the amenities like THF. An Ikea stadium. You can't tell me you don't know the difference between BMO and THF's basic structure. It would have alot more in common with BMO than THF

Exactly And the phase 1 expansion was $60 Million However that included clubs/restaurants a full row of luxury suites.
Please don't tell me you cant build a stadium literally half the price of 33,000 seat IGF. were talking 7000 less seats, ground level, made out of mostly aluminium, no canopy and half the amenities/boxes compared to a full concrete structure with a 60M canopy and a full bowl of functional space underneath. It's basically BMO with half the suites, no canopy, No vip clubs and a slightly different concourse layout

IGF keeps climbing in costs. I wouldn't use our stadium as a benchmark lol

The gap on the eastern stands looks ridiculous. I hope a banner or something goes there to minimize the look of it.

Overall those west side stands will be VERY loud when that place is full.

I don't think you know the difference. Those stands at THF are not poured concrete, they're prefab.

What you pay for is what you get.

. . . and it's 7000 fewer seats, not "less" seats.

The whole construction of BMO is weird - it has steel and precast on the lower west side with an steel and aluminum upper tier.

The south stands are steel and aluminum (as were the north).

And the east stands are the reverse of the west stands with a steel and aluminum lower level with steel and precast up top.

In many ways it is in keeping with the CFL frankenstadium tradition where parks would be gradually expanded in strange, mismatched ways (Ottawa, Regina, CanadInns Stadium in Winnipeg, Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Montreal, Exhibition Stadium in Toronto). The main difference with BMO is that it all happened over the course of roughly a decade, while those other stadiums took half a century or longer to get to their idiosyncratic configurations.

word is that the gap is there because in the future they plan to expand the pressbox and add an additional row of luxury sky suites

also there is talk that the north end setup is temporary for this season as they were rushed for time in converting it to CFL configuration. 2017 may see something permanent in the north end

WTF?

Ive been on this forum for the entire duration of THF construction i know its precast concrete but even precast concrete is STILL CONCRETE. I never said it was poured? what does that even have to do with it. It's still expensive compared to an aluminum deck. and you need %60-%70 more structural steel...which means your cost rises

Is this your expert view?

Because in the whole time I've been on this forum the one thing I've noticed is that - and I mean this in the nicest possible way - you haven't a clue when it comes to construction costs.

And I say that as a person who works in construction costs every day - and I'm particularly intimate with the costs of THF and BMO Field.

You know how hypocritical it is when you do this to people, judging by some of the stupidity you have shown in the past with your posts. You really shouldn't do it because it makes you look even more ridiculous.
