There are already a bunch of occupied CRUs along that stretch of 2nd, which is surprising. But yes, travel agencies, dentists, florists, etc.

The south side of 2nd is in real need of improvement.

For reference. Got to love that sliver of mandated retail on the west side.

Can see both sides of things and I would also prefer commercial, but I can see how there might not be any near term demand for it.

Thanks for the drawing. Is that from an official source or just a community plan? Interesting to see all of the retail required along Main St, which at the moment is still struggling for tenants.

So many more people moving in with more codos built, and yet current retail space is essentially reduced. Now that is truly disturbing. The remaining available businesses will ultimately turn lacklustre or even fail due to the lack of retail continuity to attract pedestrians/shoppers, critical mass and attractive anchors.

Who is the developer?

Same group that did Raffles on Robson

I live in Raffles and it's a great building. Bodes well for this development.

There's retail across the street and also next door at Maynards - it makes sense to have retail there, as it would provide some smaller scale retail on the walk up to the Cambie Street retail area (primarily big box) from SEFC.

It looks good. I would've liked the podium to come closer to west 2nd to line up with its neighbour So it hides it's blank wall

Ya that part is a bit weird, hopefully it will be addressed during zoning.

Judging from the renders of this project, and others in the district, it seems a "European Density" is emerging, much like Paris. Transit market. Keep the streetcar option open.

Does anyone know whether there will be street parking in front of the The One on West 1st. Seems odd that it would be the only block that doesn't have parking on the south side of the street. Looks like the centre median lane would need to be narrowed though similar to the stretch between Manitoba to Columbia.

There are 2 cranes up on the site now, or 3, I drove by and didn't pay too much attention. Does this development have it's own thread? Probably deserves it.
