I don't think anything is happening there anytime soon, but the road is closed permanently and the area will be redeveloped in the future.

Yes.

Was adopted in September this year. So they are obviously prepping the site probably for the sales center. Not sure the project's name but another high-rise in Surrey Central.

I posted more information last year:

Ok this one is early, but Lark group is on fire around Surrey Memorial:

http://developers.surrey.ca/AMANDA5/eNtraprise/DInquiry/index_fromgis.jsp?ProjectNumber=14-319

Being put forward to Council for a third office (medical) tower near Surrey Memorial. This one will be across the street (east) of the already completed tower. A little shorter @ 8 stories but will make 3 office towers in less than 1 square block across the street from SMH.

Hopefully more building to come around there as there are quite a few old houses with businesses in them up the street that could hopefully move out into these new buildings to make way for more development.

We're probably still 1-2 years away from this specific project but figured I'd post it anyway since I'm bored today.

...
Thanks for the info.

Good to see that they are "correcting" the street grid to allow for more through streets.

They're trying to do that in all of Surrey Central. Difficult process unfortunately but the center will be better off for it and hopefully avoid the road insanity that is Metrotown.

that render is rather disappointing. the building is nice, but there's too much empty space at the corner of 108th and king george and along 108th. is that supposed to be some kind of plaza?

What a bipolar development. The first pic makes it look like a surburban wasteland. The second pic makes it look compact and urban with a great street interaction

I think it's partly because the city owns the land that (in the render) is greenspace

What's the likelihood of this development coming to fruition? Are there any timelines?

I think it will be some time before this actually gets built. the developer Tien Sher has had trouble developing lots nearby like quattro and Balance. Although they might have better sales once the strip club/hotel and sex shop are torn down to make way for this new development.

The Flamingo really attracts a lot of the undesirables. Once that is razed it will help the area.

Also re: the green space near 108th, the above poster is correct they do not own that land. It isn't City owned but it isn't owned by Tien Sher also.

The lot highlighted is what they own and what will represent this development:

Nice building. Looks like Metroplace and it appears to be 45 stories with a 4 story mech-house. Reasonably estimated at 540 feet similar to 3 Civic Plaza. The area will always be empty until these towers start rising up over the next 30 years.

Some of that green space is along King George and does seem part of this development. Along 108 are empty lots shown in the rendering, which would be owned by others.

The building should take the curve in King George and be built up to the sidewalk.

The greenspace along King george blvd isn't owned by the developer so they couldn't possibly build right up to the street

Is there any movement on this project, or are these just old renderings from a year years back?
