Hotel is great!! It's got a mid-century, sort of Palm Springs vibe to it, totally unique in Vancouver. Had friends stay there in the summer, the courtyard looks bright and hip, almost tropical, they offer free retro-bikes to their guests among other things. The 7-11 was totally out of synch with the vibe of the hotel so I'm sure the owners are glad it's gone.

That's kind of hard to avoid, considering the public housing tower right next door.

the burrard is a boutique hotel, that 7-11 was kind of handy.

Rolex to replace Xi Shi Lounge, as per Retail-Insider, at Shangri-La hotel. They'll get Alberni St frontage, good addition to Strellson across the street.

That's real sad as I think the Shangri-la hotel should have a proper lounge. This lounge caters for afternoon teas, and serves as a jazz cocktail/wine lounge in the evening. Not sure why many shun this place. Perhaps management should open it up more to Alberni street and not veil it in. The Fairmont Pacific Rim lounge, on the other hand, is usually quite crowded.

i think luxury retail trumps a lounge any time. I need say nothing more than Rolex. ...

But perhaps SL can find other frontage for a lounge. Personally, I wish a rooftop type of scenario could have been built into Shangri-La; just imagine how violently successful that operation would have been. ...

Nope, the lobby of the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel (South tower) is now being renovated. Looks like the Starbucks is finished and on hold until the hotel renos are complete. It appears that the only/main entrance to this Starbucks is through the hotel lobby.

Rolex is nice but it's not like I would frequent the place. At least I've been to Xishi couple of times.

If you mean a podium rooftop, well, a new one at Trump is coming....

Sounds like the room renos will finish in April.

Lacoste

Noticed yesterday that the Lacoste store is completely cleared out and gone on Burrard street just North of Robson. But the good news is that the For Leased sign in the window already has a LEASED sticker over it.

Don't know if this has been posted yet but signage is up for Massimo Dutti to fill the last, large remaining space below Nordstrom in the PC expansion.

A little more on Massimo Dutti opening in Pacific Centre beside Ted Baker from Retail-Insider.

http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2016/02/massimo-dutti-vancouver-pacific-centre/

For those not familiar, it's basically a high-end ZARA owned by their parent Inditex. I love Massimo Dutti and always pick up a few things from them when in Europe, their quality is excellent and styling a lot like Strellson for work clothes. Great addition to our retail mix.

Armani Exchange space on 1000 block Robson is now vacant with a For Lease sign in the window. Shocking this space wasn't snapped-up well before A/X vacated.

Anyone know what's going into the old Miele space at Smithe & Expo Blvd (Pivotal Bldg)?

****

I guess everyone knows that Lowe's will be buying RONA.

If you are talking about the Miele space itself, I think the sing on door says that they are just renovating and will re-open soon.

Ahh, okay thanks.
I just drive by and I assumed that it was being combined with the space next door for a new tenant.

I just posted this at the Amazing Brentwood thread:

Quote:
I just looked at the Amazing Brentwood Leasing plans again
...AND THE ANCHOR SPACES HAVE BEEN JUGGLED.

There appear to be many large retail spaces - i.e. for the H&Ms, Zaras and other larger format retailers.

There appears to be a *NEW* 3 storey anchor (130,555 sq ft over 3 storeys) in the SE quadrant across from the existing basement level of Sears.
Note the escalator atrium within the store.
- Is this a new tenant or a relocated Sears?

The basement of Sears (63,277 sq ft) seems to remain as an anchor space (could that be a down-sized Sears)?
The mall has been extended through the existing Sears on the 2 mall levels.

Note the "North Atrium", "Galleria" & "South Atrium"

The North Atrium anchor at the former Zellers end is now on the upper mall level only (36,234 sq ft) with an atrium below and basketball courts on the roof.

Also note:
- the South Atrium has a new anchor (21,325 sq ft).
- new freestanding 2nd floor anchor on the Willingdon side (22,274 sq ft) (in the base of a condo tower)
- the large basement or at-grade anchor space at Beta & Lougheed (40,000 sq ft) (relocated London Drugs or new supermarket?)
- the large 2-storey space at Beta & Lougheed (41,903 sq ft over 2 storeys)
- the large CRU (>29,000 sq ft) on Level 01 of the West Building opening onto the Town Centre Plaza
- another large CRU (>23,000 sq ft) on Level 01 of the South Building.

i wonder what they will do in vancouver with rona and lowes, there is only one lowes location. The only Rona that seems to fit the big box format is the one in vancouver off grandview highway. The coquitlam rona is pretty crappy.

Are there many ronas in the area?

they did try the big box format in surrey but didn't last very long.
