Based on your replies, it seems your ego is a lot more at stake...

So far the Brentwood announcement is all fluff, no actual stores named. Call me when they show up.

Sears is examining closure of outlets and home stores - guess that explains the closure of the Lougheed clearance centre.

Oh for pete's sake Vin, it's called sarcasm. Heard of it? No? Perhaps you could get over yourself instead.

Could be the first - but I don't know which location that would be (it says "home store" not clearance store - so probably not Lougheed).

Seriously, Sears need to update their remaining stores to stay relevant. Yes, Leon's is not in BC right now, although found all over the rest of the country.

From Granville St. Twitter:

MAC Cosmetics 'wanted a street door' at 674 Granville but 'heritage building constraints' nixed the plan

So how did they get approval for the TopShop entrance?
How would that impact Hudson Bay's desire to add other exterior entrances to basement space (though they've failed to lease it out)

I saw the glass on that corner (MAC) of Hudson's Bay removed yesterday - not sure why.

EDIT: Granville Twitter now says MAC IS getting a streetfront door:

Teen #makeup fav @MACcosmetics opening a street door at 674 Granville. Great addition say staff

HY Louie is out of the wholesale business - Overwaitea will supply the HY Louie IGA stores.
I guess they'll switch house brands from Compliments to Western Family?

Quote:
...
Jones explained that OFG has entered an agreement to supply all of H.Y. Louie's IGA stores with dry goods, which comprise about 40% of grocery store sales and include canned products, cereals and flour.

It may also deliver dry goods to H.Y. Louie’s former wholesale customers, which include about a dozen smaller stores, such as Clayton’s Heritage Market in Sechelt.

"Our customers have been notified that we're out of the wholesale business and it is up to them to decide what to do," McCurdy said.

Interesting read about hy louie. Now wonder who will pick up all there corporate stores and what brand will the independents become. As I think The lower mainland is the last stronghold of IGA. Sobeys bought them out in Alberta 15 or more years ago.

I wonder if London Drugs and the Vanwhole will be sold also

I'm not sure how long the 7-11 at Burrard and Helmcken has been closed but I just noticed today. It's the one just across from St. Paul's in the Burrard Hotel.

That's interesting. Has the Starbucks ("largest in Downtown") on the opposite side opened yet?

As in the artist formerly known as Mosaic will be a Starbucks?

And second thought, I hope the Burrard gets a decent restaurant where the 7-Eleven once was... the hotel is great... but could really use an actual restaurant.

Probably a cheap place to stay if you have family in the hospital.

That hotel is surprisingly nice and modern inside. Must've been renovated fairly recently.

The owners have done a really great job with The Burrard Hotel. It's been reno'd with cute modern / mid-century touches, a great licensed coffee shop / snack bar and free bikes! Though it would be quite reasonable right now, it can be quite pricey in the summer. My wife and I stayed there for a night a couple years back, he's what she thought.

Yes, I wonder if the didn't renew the 7-11 lease because it didn't attract the kind of crowd they were trying to get for the hotel.
