Hopefully the IGF experience didn't sour them on our province...

I am sure they share some of the blame with that particular fiasco.

SOD only leases space in that building. Yes, they built is with them as the main tenant but I believe Bentall owns it. I know they are trying to lease out a portion of the space for other purposes, hence the For Lease sign. Maybe though, Bentall has found someone to lease the whole building forcing SOD out???

I was assuming they had built the building because they thought they'd continue to create large projects and the IGF thing is causing them to retreat. They have a time frame to leave but can leave sooner.

They have a new tenant moving in in February. SOD has a drop dead date to vacate the rest of the building (nine months I think) but can leave sooner and then the new tenant will have the entire space.

^ So is SOD moving somewhere else then? I'm pretty sure they had a small office here before they ramped up their presence significantly a few years back.

That, I dont know. Just that they are vacating that particular building. It could just be they dont need that much space. The incoming tenant does need the space and will be operating out of more than one building until such time as SOD is gone, and they can move their operations all to that one building. Its a relocation to Winnipeg also as the incoming business currently operates south of Winnipeg.

Maybe Shaw will move in as they're bursting at the seams right next door.

It's a small project, but I have to say I like the look of the former Econo-Vision at Graham and Kennedy. The old look was atrocious, and if that corner is going to remain a modest one-storey commercial block, at least it will be one that doesn't look totally dilapidated.
