That's my point though. If they put their 800,000 sq feet in our buildings' 3D envelope, it would only fill it a little more than half way. If Brookfield used their exact shape, it would be much taller.

A third residential tower is to be built on the current Greyhound station site, I believe that one will be condos as with on top of the Marriott. The third tower is pretty much the last one to have no real announcements yet even the cineplex in it's podium pictured in all the renders hasn't been officially announced. If anything I'd say it is the only one in risk of deferral.

Because it's rental instead of condo there is more chance of it being deferred. I'm not predicting it will happen, but it's far easier to defer than it is with condos. Condos make it much harder to get going as you need the sales up front, but once you have the sales you need to build. With rentals they can do what they want, but of course building it in this kind of economy probably means someone is going to lose some money.

So much talk about Stantec and the Peace bridge haha
Any updates on the progress of Brookfield? I haven't made it downtown for a while and I don't get a very good view of it from the Northwest where I live.

Sorry about the glare, but here's the view from the west.

Windows are up to floor 26.

45ish stories up for the steel? 11 to go? That is a behemoth.

Awesome pic Brookfield! It's actually quite slender from that angle.

I think even from the wide side, this one will look quite slender and lovely once it's topped out. We still have a good 70 meters to go on this beauty.

Does the structure taper as it rises, or is that just an illusion created by the increasing corner radius? Either way, I am loving the slenderness and height, and how you're beginning to be able to see it from every direction.

No tapering noticed when compared to the telus building behind this one.

That's too bad, I was hoping for a noticeable taper by the time it got to the top. I believe we were told there would be a taper when it was initially proposed in this form.

From the first page of this thread 'whose edges curve and taper upwards to it's crown' - no mention of the sides tapering.

If you look at the building from 45 degree angles (which is unworldly for those who have only lived in grids all of their lives) an increasing radius of the corners would definitely result in a tapering of the overall width. If someone said it was going to taper, they would have most definitely been correct.

I know it is complicated. Trust me.

I'm sorry that it's complicated for you. It isn't for the rest of us.

Pretty rich, given that a bunch of you were not getting that the building does actually taper, and I had to lay it out for you in simple language.

Glad you've finally figured out the Brookfield geometry (a unit of mathematics). Would you like a certificate? LOL!

LOL!

You clearly missed my post explaining in detail how the entire building does indeed taper when looked at from corners because larger ridii result in a decreased width corner to corner as you move up.
