With this said above I think that when Sears finaly bites the bullet I think that location could be taken over by the Hudson Bay Company.

And to come to the Sears home Furnishings spot it could be filled by a home outfitters and It would have been a excelent location for an IKEA pick up spot.

If there is one more thing I'm happy about IKEA officially going to Halifax is that people around town will stop saying that IKEA is coming to Moncton, IKEA is coming to Moncton, we want IKEA in Moncton! With local officials and the T&T stirring up the pot every few months that issue is finally dead. I was right on this topic; IKEA was never coming to Moncton, I've been saying it for years and many here were saying the same thing, I knew the numbers were not adding up. (other than a mini IKEA that is...)

Sears Home is closing for sure, I vote for a Home Outfitters for that location or even a Hudson's Bay store, but they don't go in big box areas, they are mall anchors... and the size of the store is not large enough. Please no the Brick we have plenty of furniture stores around here.

Sears Home location

Regarding Home Outfitters, I'm not so sure that it would do well in the former Sears home location. While not exactly the same store, their product lines do overlap somewhat. If Sears home did not do well there, why should Home Outfitters, especially with BB & Beyond almost next door?

I purchased a couple of appliances over the years from the Sears Home store. Whenever I was in there, the store only had a couple of customers, and appeared mostly empty.

My thoughts are that the large space should be split up into smaller units, or torn down for a Costco gas bar.

True, there are tons of gas stations in that area already, but as mentioned elsewhere, Costco has the effect of lowering the average price in an area.

If Costco were interested in the Sears Home lot for expansion, they could consider moving the whole automotive section over to the new location, including their propane refilling station and a new Costco gas bar. This might be thinking out of the "big" box for them, but it would certainly free up space in their current building for a significant expansion.

Of course, this would do nothing for the current parking situation.

Thats what i suggested a few months back that that would be a great spot for Costco to do a separate automotive maintenance place and Gas Bar.

And on another note doe we know who will be going into CF Champlain when the Gap closes.?

The Bay should wait until Sears vacates Champlain Place - I think that would be the ideal location.

Rumors

Rumors from someone working at Champlain Place. Globo Shoes is planned to replace The Gap. Tommy Hilfiger will close its doors to make room for a Bâton Rouge restaurant.

Globo shoes would be a waste of a space for the mall, it's a wasted opportunity. I think it might be a temporary tenant.
I like the option of Bâton Rouge, the mall needs a restaurant and I don't care for Tommy Hilfiger. They've been looking for a franchisee for a while and for the past few months CF has been saying that they want to bring new restaurants at their properties because they bring in the $$$. This rumor is plausible.

Globo is a legitimate retailer, but I agree it would be a wasted opportunity for that particular space. I also can't imagine that it would occupy the entire Gap/Gap Kids location. How many shoe stores does this city need anyway???

Baton Rouge is an interesting rumour. If CF is interested in attracting a restaurant, this would be a good choice. The Tommy Hilfiger space is oddly shaped, but I see the store closing signs are back up at International Clothiers next door. The spaces could be easily combined. I agree, the Baton Rouge rumour may have some legs......

Pretty sure it's just their usual marketing tactic; they've been "closing" every few months ever since they opened 10 or 15 years ago.

Exactly. The one in Freddy had a "Closing" "Going out of business" sale that seemed to last a year and a half. When they finally did close, they immediately reopened across the hall. (They had to move to make room for H&M)

This must be Canadian Tire's version of the Hopewell Rocks aquarium feature at the Bass Pro Shops store........

Canadian Tire has certainly stepped up there game....By the looks of the Picture tour it certainly is a impressive layout. This couldn't of been a better choice for this location....it will spur a lot more life than Zellers and Target combined. Anyone hear any gossip about the old location yet?

Still the only thing I had heard is possibly a No Frills Grocery store, but nothing concrete.

Not a big thing, but the H & R Block signage has gone up at the old Rogers space in the Northwest Centre. When this and Canadian Tire open in the next 6 weeks or so, the Northwest Centre will be back at full occupancy for the first time since Princess Auto moved to Mapleton Crossing.
