This event features Inuit advocate and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Sheila Watt-Cloutier, for her presentation, The Right To Be Cold: Human Rights And Our Changing Climate. Climate change is transforming the Arctic and creating a massive challenge for the world’s environmental future. Going beyond the science and the politics, Sheila shares her firsthand experience living in the Arctic and leading change on the global stage.

The feature keynote presentation will be held later that evening, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at 1-430 Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science at the University of Alberta.

This event is part of the University of Alberta’s International Week and Sustainability Speaker Series and the City of Edmonton’s The Way We Green Speakers Series, which aims to inspire dialogue among Edmontonians working together to build a greener and more resilient city.

Muttart lands are for sale ? That's news to me

In any case, that's only one small part of the overall concept, still would be a shame to see it fall off the rails


But I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of that with some of these proposals that are stacking up

I believe that was Brookfields plan all along - they build the roads and service the lots and sell them to a builder. I have heard that they themselves may develop on one of the parcels.

dubs proposal would be awesome if he could transition the base of the tower to the atrium. Why would fanning the bottom out in an organic matter (extremely crude interpretation here) while still using glass not be an option? So the building flows into the podium; and wouldn't effect the atrium needed by the plant life in the building? Curious.. because it just looks like a really sexy corn dog at this point, IMO.

Fox has concrete poured to the fourth floor now, and it still has a vehicle ramp going up to it. Really curious to see how their floor plans are for retail, I thought they dug a pretty big hole but seem to have a lot of parking above ground as well.

Does the office space just front 104 street or is their office space fronting 102 ave?

Pretty challenging and inefficient parkade if they have to front 102 ave along the entire podium.

I like the tower portion of Dub's proposal and what looks like a living wall inside. The exposed column on the outside does seem like it would be a bit out of place, not sure how to better integrate it though. This seems like it would be fairly challenging to build without displacing/disrupting Citadel activities for a while.

Both 102ave and 104st are required to be active, thankfully, so a little creativity was required with the parkade design.

Anyone know how many more floors are going to be poured on the CoE tower elevator shaft? Quick count i think there is 3 floors left?

Man. ... I'd love to see the floor plan for those levels. A ramp up and down and three stalls per level? Probably a part of the reason they didn't go as tall on the fox as Icon.

^the ramp is right to the Fox 1 wall, and in the middle of the floor plate from 104 and the alley. There is no concrete barrier of any sort that would separate parkade and office, on the East half of the whole surface area. On the West side though, facing the alley, there is a big concrete barrier that looks to be blocking the parkade area and probably the office space facing 102nd ave.

In Icon 2 the wall separating the parkade from office is cinder block...At least I'm pretty sure it is.
