They are now working on the top of the podium floor.

Amazing to think that they are only finishing the podium floor, looking amazing so far. Haven't seen many renderings from the lower water street prospective, should be interesting

You can see the pool taking shape in the webcam now on the harbour side of the top podium floor.

Careful Keith, you sound dangerously close to optimistic. People will think you're drunk!

It's a real city. This one is certainly filling in the spaces quite well and making Halifax feel a little bigger.

Are there any renderings that show the East-facing side of the building?

Yeah, that's a real nicely urban looking stretch now.

I lifted this one from Southwests website: http://southwest.ca/

It has hints of art deco from certain angles.

Would be a really nice place to live if not for the damn container trucks crashing along Hollis and Lower Water St. at all hours of the day and night. Can't believe we have tolerated that for over 5 decades.

Probably won't even notice them a few stories up, though.

I live a few blocks further down on Hollis. After two years the trucks are really getting on my nerves. I put up with it because of the other benefits of living where I live, but my life would improve greatly if we got the container trucks out (and switched garbage trucks over to electric). I think one of the biggest things we could do to make downtown living more attractive is find a solution to the container trucks.

Barrington is becoming more residential with the Roy, the Discovery Centre and Green Lantern projects the Ghosns want to start before the summer, the NFB building (which progresses, albeit slowly: some fencing was erected around the building entrance as of Friday). I'm starting to wonder if the sudden influx of residents that will be taking place in the next couple of years will lead to more complaints about this kind of thing. (Barrington especially is already a noisy street, choked with not only trucks but buses roaring up and down all the time.)

We haven't really been thinking of downtown as a neighbourhood, but with a thousand or more additional residents within a few blocks, I'm sure there will be pressure to make the on-street environment a little more pleasant.
