Nothing there either, other than bitching about the Agros and their grey haired geriatric fan base and how it won't last, no one cares, Toronto is too good for the CFL blah, blah , blah....

Seriously though - you pretty much nailed it on the head and I probably have more of a chip on my shoulders than most folks in here - especially the younger crowd who didn't have to live through the years where we constantly had to hear how much better Edmonton was than Cowtown. Whether it was the Oilers and Esks and all their cups to how much better Commonwealth is (and of course the mall!) and now this new arena and the new tallest building in the west. I'm pretty jaded about it and I know I shouldn't be haha. Oh well at least I still have a job!

Holy crap, what a pack of a-holes on there! Lots of angry comments including this beauty....

"So, for a little malicious fun, TFC fans should just pack the place on an Argo game day, ordering draft beer schpritzers, and abuse the hell out of CFL fans. Hah, 5-6 years ago McMahon was state of the art - there must be another McMahon stadium in Calgary other than the one I'm used to going to.

I hope you picked up the sarcasm in it lol Seriously though, I would have taken McMahon over Frank Claire,Cannads, Mosiac 1.0 and especially ivor wynne! To be fair though Winnipeg and Regina made the best with what they had. That's where Calgary had gone so wrong. They haven't made much for investments into the place to keep it somewhat modern And that has really shown over the last 5 years since the Stadium frenzy Started.

As a Calgary resident would you support a refurbished McMahon? 120M Reno vs a 400M indoor stadium?

Too be fair Calgary has had it's time over the past 25 years. Edmonton has taken a back seat and now it's time to take the reins for a little while. It's all preference. I love Edmonton Ive been all over North America and no other city has me the way Etown does. Calgary isn't for me and I felt that way the very first time I was there in 2006. Winnipeg too. Toronto is meh. Montreal is beautiful but doesn't feel like Canada and Vancouver in all it's beauty is one of the most dirty places ive ever been in my entire life. There's no where like Edmonton! (please don't make a Detroit joke haha)

You really can't understand why TFC fans are ticked off? Don't get me wrong, they shouldn't take it out on Argo's fans, but a lot of Argo's fans have been complete arrogant ungrateful twats about the whole thing as well.

Yeah but anything concerning the CFL from the crowd that doesn't follow it or like it is always totally over the top. That post quoted is such a perfect example of how the anti-CFL set can just completely lose it.

BTW it's not just in Toronto - this mindset exists across Canada - but it's often more acute there because of the impression of some that their city is on the cusp of Full Fledged Big Time American Sports League Greatness, and how the CFL is allegedly the final barrier to achieving this.

Woah! While you arena is magnificent and I love how Edmonton is embracing a Winter City identity, we've only slowed down a bit and are still moving forward as stagnation is not option. It goes back to learning from others, we learned about stagnation from you guys.

The City has done an incredibly good job at making these figures, projects available to all. I'd say it really depends on the market and location for CRLs and TIFs. Certainly a hockey mad market and an arena in the core of the core will be more likely than a softer hockey market and a development with significantly less potential area investment.

I would and I have proposed that, I think McMahon's location is good, I think the bones are good and anything new probably won't have the same tailgating atmosphere. The problem is ownership of the facility and the land it sits on but I do think a much refurbished McMahon would be a very memorable place.

Wow. Just wow. So what is the ETA on the great soccer/football riots commencing. Because based on the rhetoric, that's where this is going to end up. Which is bad for the CFL, bad for soccer, and just plain bad for Toronto.

Of course it will be the 0.7% of fans on both sides causing this.

A little dose of humility would do the TFC crowd a lot of good. They far too often seem to forget that the stadium they seem to think they have a God-given exclusive right to was largely built with public money.

I get the impression that this "rivalry" is kind of a one way street... on one hand you have TFC fans carrying anti Argo banners and getting ready to storm the barricades, and on the other Argo fans seem kind of bemused by all of this.

If I were an Argo fan I'd LOL at any losers going to a football game to protest the inequity of having to share a venue that they don't own.
