They had over 90% of the units reserved since Sept 2015 and I believe hard contracts on over 30% of them. People were lining up since the beginning which prompted some of us to think they could have added floors to meet the demand. Too bad they didn't.

I am, haha. I meant to put a sarcastic emoticon in there but forgot I guess. Gotta keep you guys on your toes. Ready for this one to be built.

Edit: But nonetheless, thank you General for answering, haha.

Serious question:
Anyone know of a forthcoming webcam for this one? It'd be fun to watch.

Matt_ said last March that he was going to look into a webcam because he has the perfect vantage point. Not sure if he has gotten it ready, of it he needs a friendly reminder.

Haha, on the webcam, no. I honestly missed that one if there is one.

Freshly groomed sand, hard hats and conveniently staged excavators...

The one guy throwing sand with the big smile on his face looks like he didn't have enough time in the sandbox as a kid...

Lol.... Hey sand is fun to play with. Anyways did everyone look a people criticizing this tower on facebook especially on the news feed kxan, kvue, ect? Seems like something breaks ground they get up and arms about it. Oh well, I find this tower attractive. It's like a pretty young woman, tall, single and don't care what people think of her.

I was a critic of this at first, but I've warmed up to it to the point of excitement about it getting underway. Maybe because I really don't like some other proposals in the pipeline. So yep, your assessment is correct.

I'm just happy that this one is actually going to become a reality and not die as another ambitious but unrealistic proposal. No pun intended, but this is huge for the city of Austin. It's going to raise our profile and help our skyline immensely. I've always hated how imbalanced our skyline is with the Austonian being so much bigger than all of the other buildings. This will help even things out.

Agreed on that. It's a major player, even if it could be a little bit better in its design (I like the idea of the boxes pushing out in all four directions rather than two, personally). Great to see it happen!

I used to live at 360 and had a view directly over the site, but I've since moved out to Mueller (great skycraper views from Mueller, I'll post soon).

I still have a friend at 360 with a stellar view of the Independent site though. Does anybody know of a cheap, reliable webcam I could put at his window or on the balcony?

So I did some quick searches, and it seems the vast majority of webcams are designed for short distance focus. I then found that the terminology we need to use is "ip camera." Those are the cameras used for surveillance and whatnot. They are designed to have a longer focus. They aren't as cheap, though.

I don't know your budget, but I'd just search amazon for HD IP cameras and check out the reviews. Then google the ones you're interested in for technical reviews.

You can buy webcams at any store. Just depends on how far range you want them. I prefer Best Buy or any electronic store.

Architect handled the "Jenga" question well.
I would have my hands aroung the reproter throat screaming :
"STOP WITH THE JENGA BULL SH*T" !!!!!!!
it's annoying how people reduce design to something they can understand.. then actually think that was the design process.

The social media accounts of the Independent are calling it Jenga, too.
