Next to tims on amirault the arrows in the drive thru are green similar to the green arrows at the existing Starbucks with a drive thru in dieppe... I'm pretty certain it will be a Starbucks.

Yes, that's the rumour. Starbucks #4 for Dieppe (more than Moncton).

I am pretty sure they do have plans to build a smaller format store on Elmwood. If they were to build there, I don't think there is enough demand to build a full size Dieppe store and keep one downtown. From my understanding they wanted to get rid of the Main Street store.

I was thinking when they announced that they were going to build their store in Dieppe that Sobeys wanted to pull out of Champlain Place. Cause i do not think that it has its place in the current Champlain place scheme of things.

This is what I have heard.
Sobeys: wants to relocate their store from Champlain Place to Dieppe.
Dieppe Coop: could end up slightly expanding to become IGA Extra.
Superstore: wants to relocate their Main Street store to Dieppe & build a small format store on Elmwood. Also potentially build another small format store somewhere downtown, and possible @ the location they currently are at.

Long time reader, first time poster...

Last week I happened to be walking through the Champlain Plaza: Phase II parking lot and couldn't help but notice a car parked in front of building 15/16 (not sure which one).
A decal on the car, the license plate of the car, and the sweater of the guy standing next to the car, all had "TacoBoyz" imprinted on it; I haven't heard mention of this restaurant chain linked with this development yet.

Amirault St across the marsh was finally opened up to 4 lanes of traffic once again over the weekend, indicating that the roadwork portion of the project is now complete. What a change. It's fantastic. They are still putting in some sod and such for some of the business properties but overall the project seems to be finished. I believe the planned end date was mid December so they seem to be either on schedule or slightly ahead even.

I must say that the whole thing went quite smoothly considering how major this project was. The crews kept delays to a minimum the best they could and I think the city did a good job of preparing people for what was to come by advertising the delays, recommending alternate routes by installing the temporary light at Thomas/Gauvin, etc.

I don't know about anyone else but considering Taco Bell is almost right across the ONLY taco place in Greater Moncton that I know of, this may not be the best place for it. I would say somewhere on trinity would be more feasible. This kinds of reminds me of when Futureshop was in Champlain place, then Sony Store moved in. Futureshop moved to Trinity and Sony Store moved to trinity, then went out of business. Sometimes business in my opinion doesn't make a lot of sense.

There are Guacamole stores in Champlain and on Mountain Road near University Ave, if you're really looking for tacos and don't like Taco Bell.

The City of Dieppe recently put aside $300,000 and invited residents to submit ideas on how to spend it. They had over 100 submissions. The list was whittled down to 18 finalists, ranging from anything from buying playground equipment to small construction projects like a Tidal Bore observation deck and multi-purpose beach facility for beach volleyball, soccer, etc. Residents could then vote on which projects they liked best.

Voting closed Dec. 5 and the winning projects will be announced tomorrow at city hall. Here's a list of the 18 finalist projects:

They allowed kids from age 11 on to vote so I suspect many of the projects will be kid/school related.

FYI these are the winning projects that will be funded. Each project needed a minimum support of 25%:

Lakeburn Rocks – indoor climbing wall: Boys and Girls Club - $66,000
This investment will provide alternative exercise space to residents in Dieppe focusing on the youth of our community.

Outdoor physical training circuit: Dieppe: Aquatic and Sports Centre - $70,000
Equipment that residents will use to do exercises with signs suggesting circuits to be completed for a safe, comprehensive workout.

A good old fashioned nature park - $63,000: A fun outdoor playground at École Amiraut
featuring wood equipment, sand boxes, tires, obstacle games, etc

Boards and a special playing surface for ball hockey: Youth House - $100,000
A unique, safe facility where the community can engage in physical activity by practicing our national sport.

There's a construction fence up and they're doing some fairly significant excavating on the empty lot next to the creek across from the corner of Fox Creek Rd and Amirault. It looks to be a little too close to the creek to be a building, but there's a stack of pipes there they look to be installing. Perhaps this is to help alleviate the flooding problems there. The neighbouring businesses have flooded multiple times in the past decade or so and flooding there also often closes Fox Creek Rd which is really the only connector road between Dieppe Blvd and Amirault.

They are opening at 355 Dieppe Blvd in February. On the negative side, that mean the development for that property is probably on hold for a while...

Unless they expect to keep that building in that development...

I had no idea that was coming to Dieppe. They're supposedly all the rage in Europe. Definitely going to be checking it out!

There's one in Ottawa that is quite popular along with a couple in Toronto.

According to the Champlain Plaza property profile, unit 16 in phase 2 of the development (6,000 sq ft) has been leased to Avocado Fruits.

A little research on the interweb suggests that this will likely be a new franchise for a green grocer chain originating on PEI. I would assume it's something like Pete's Frootique.........
